I played thorugh about a dozen variations - changing gendwer, class, levels ect - not entire games, just to thisone point to examine this facet - I ALWAYS had Anderson put in as council member. When Miranda "checks my memory" in the shuttle after escaping the space station, I ALWAYS lied and said I'd installed Udina - each time this was accepted as correct - even when it was not - Note : on further playthtroughs - even though I lie in the shuttle the correct person remains my 'contact' at the citadel human embassy -
So is thsi a bug ? An acceptance of Shepard's "rebel" streak ? (deliberately lying cause he don't trust mir and jac yet)
or is it simply a goof by the game designers ?
They did NOT put anything in to allow ANY player to 'fail' that little pop quiz in the shuttle - which is disappointing. :(

No, ME1 saves never recorded who you chose for the council.

Naturally it was to late to fix that in ME1, so they just did that to cover the hole.

EDIT: Also, Anderson is suppost to be your contact reguardless if he's in the council or not.

I think this continues to be part of the updates you can make to the imported game; you can change your class, appearance, whatever - and also that tidbit. I noticed that they didn't ask who you chose, they asked something more vague like "What happened" or "Who became the councilmember" or something. If you did choose Anderson initially, but say Udina in ME2, it could be argued that though you chose Anderson, something prevented him from actually taking the position, and Udina was installed instead. Shepard would know that, and it would be an accurate memory check - so either way you answer, Miranda is satisfied.

Just a thought. I don't think it makes a difference, really, either way... but I did notice it too.

I think PC saves did make that save but 360 ones didn't since they released the 360 edition first and were able to make the change before the PC edition came out, I think. Either way, even as a PC import you can still change who you put on the council - just not whether the council lived or died. Interesting setup.

Like Landline said the last "recording" of ME is if you saved the councill or not then after that well it s not so thats why she has to ask you who you saved

I also tried, unsuccessfully, to shoot both jacob AND Miranda in the back at the first opportunity - the shots did nothing, not even noticed - the "watch where you're shooting dialogue doesn't kick in until the loyalty missions.

Yeah.. the 'importable' secret save game is saved as soon as you beat the game, which is before you make the Anderson/Udina decision.
