Will Wade's items be goofy??

I was wary when I heard that Wade and Heron will return in Awakening. Now, I know they were written by Ferret, and he seems quite partial to them, but...

I found the whole thing to be a bit too goofy and well, silly, for me...

The Dragonarmor could have been cool, but it was, well, made into a joke instead.

Apart from acting like the world's worst cliches, the armor that Wade makes is given the worst write up. The text name does not even fit in the right size font on console versions.

Is there anyone else who would have preferred a slightly more serious description for their dragonarmor? I personally do not want mine to "Come in a fah-bulous range of colors, dah-ling!"...

So... my question is this:

Will the new items that Wade makes be tied to "humorous" descriptions?

...

Or will they be akin to: "Gloves of the Mincing Cliche" or "Cincture of Va-va-voom"  Posted Image

Okay... that was just pure cattiness... oh! the indig-nity!  Posted Image

Yes, I'm pretty sure that Wade's armor will still make you gay in Awakening. Look at it this way- it will take the sting away from losing Morrigan/Leliana.

Wade himself is absolutely ridiculous. It's only fitting that one of the best armor sets in the game is obtainable from him, let alone has equally silly text descriptions. You're lucky it did, in fact. The armor's so mundane in appearance it would better pass as a background prop than something the hero of Ferelden would wear to a brawl with an Archdemon.

...

heh, but gay in a way only a straight male could write... in 1982!

I half expected Zevran to chime in with a "I never knew people like you really existed" and then have Wade flounce around his smithy...

Strangely, Wades voice acting made me think of Stuey from Family Guy. Maybe he's like the evil gay mastermind or something.

I see him as DA's Cromwell (reference to BG2) so I really hope not, but Wade and Herren interactions are truly priceless.

Yes... I had thought that perhaps they are *actually* the Architect and the Whithered in disguise?

Sure had me fooled!!

I found the description and Wade to bu humorous. Nothing to complain about IMO but to each his own tastes. There are other sets of armor that rival Wade's that have more epic description e.g. legion and blood dragon.

As for me, for a dark heroic fantasy, this game has too much comic relief in it. I hope they lessen it in future developments.

Im not saying comic reliefs are bad, but it really strays from a dark heroic fantasy genre that i was expecting. A more serious kind of setting.

I wonder if Wade will still only make armor and nothing else. Weapons maybe or what about mage gear?................

I loved Wade and Herren. I thought they were pretty funny but that may be just me.

Nah, it ain't just you. I also love them. When Wade opens his mouth, a smile instantly materializes on my face.

There's nothing wrong with the comic relief IMO (and I like Wade and Herren too), it's just that the setting, as seen in DAO, is not really "grimdark" in the first place...

Also, the toolset can make anything look better (this is Wade's Heavy Dragonscale).

Wade : "It is done! The work of my life is complete..."
Herren :"You did it so... faast!"
Wade :  "Of course Herren, I'm a master smith, have some faith!"
Herren : "Miracles never cease to happen. But you. You are not welcome here anymore!"
Wade : "Ooh, I need a sabbatical, maybe someplace warm!"
Herren :"I hate my life..."

Best. Ingame. Dialogue ever!

Well first of all the game was advertised as a Dark Heroic Fantasy. Comic reliefs isn't bad at all but too much of it destroys the mood. Like there is suppose to be a world ending Blight at the door step? Wade and Herren are funny, yes, but the problem is there is too much in game funny stuff that destroys the mood of having a Blight.

Yes...

I honestly do not think that Bioware was ready to make a "dark fantasy" - there is soooo much comic relief that it extends to actually breaking the mood, time and time again.

I can think of plenty of games that had a darker setting which did not need to break the atmosphere so constantly. I think a good example would be Kotor2... this was very dark, and had little humor outside a singular companion.

I just think that the Wade and Heron bit got extended too far... I personally discard those items, because they are just so silly.

I am hoping that if Wade is going to be the Cespenar of Awakening, that he actually stops fawning around like a an eighties cliche... or in the very least, he makes items that seem serious.

Serious gay characters and outrageous cliche tend not to mix very well...

The descriptions of the special items he crafts will fit on consoles without an issue. Also, the descriptions are less tongue and cheek. Rejoice or not, as you see fit. Not everyone loves Wade and Herren, but enough do that I was happy to write them into the story. :)

I would like Mihail back because he seems a better smith but lets be honest, it's a game no matter where you get the items from they are going to be just as good.

I personally love Wade and Herren. "I hate my life" was a hilarous moment imo. I can't wait to ruin Herren's life again. Mabey we can destroy his sense of reality this time aswell...now that would be fun : )

I thought they were funny. Oddly enough, it never really occured to me that Wade was supposed to be gay--I just thought he was ridiculous and completely full of himself.
