During the prologue level right after you wake up from project Lazarus, there's an attack by a bunch of droids reprogrammed by *someone* to kill everyone in the station.  Miranda shows up and shoots Williams because she somehow knows it was him, but her case struck me as...  somewhat less than airtight.

Why would Williams go nutty like that and set the bots loose killing everyone?  You'd think if he had planned it he could do a better job than get stuck in his own killing field with bots that aren't going to hold fire on just him.  And why do it right then when the project is pretty much already succesful?  The whole thing just doesn't add up and was never really explained that well imo.

Conspiracy Theory: Could the traitor-bots actually be a test by, say, Illusive Man, to see if Shepherd's still got it?  Did Miranda gun down an innocent man in cold blood to help seal the boss's cover story?

No, I get that he felt under-loved, under-noticed and under-appreciated.  And I see how that dynamic could lead to Miranda thinking he's suspicious, but I just don't see the leap from "people don't pay enough attention to me" to "really badly bungled murder of everyone I know and work with."  I could even see it if we found an email that was sent to him indicating he was paid off by, maybe, the Shadow Broker, to ruin Shephard's recovery.  But as motives for killing everyone around you go...  I just don't see it.

Well, it wouldn't be a very fun mission if he didn't would it?

Shadow Broker offered him a ton of cash for him to sedate Shepard, drag him into a shuttle and deliver.

He definately did the mechs.

"Bastards shot me in the leg"

Um.. what mechs? There are no mechs in the room you find him.

Wilson, not Williams. And it's been discussed to some degree:

Frankly, the way that section is written it feels pretty obvious he was a throwaway character and there wasn't a great deal of thought put into him. I could be wrong, but I believe we're meant to take it at face value.

If we do give it further thought, it's true that his reasons seem kind of questionable and the idea that he could have done this all under the Shadow Broker and Miranda's noses is also questionable.

All i know is IM cannot be trusted or taken at face value (literally) on anything. Something is going on with him, & not just because of those eye implants. He's gotta be hiding some secret...
