I always choose the exact same choices when I talk to Leliana when she compliments my hair. Never diverge from it if I don't want romance. After I've learned the choices, I've had no problems.

Not at all, you get some other nice options in that conversations, like "you know you can always come to me if you want to talk", IIRC. It didn't trigger the romance in my games. As for "forbidden fruit", I'm not sure if it does anything for a female PC, I just remembered reading about it.

Suprez, that is not normal healthy female behavior. Women who act that way are ether manipulating you, or are stupid. Ether way, not worth the crazy.

Aw... the idea of Zev secretly falling in love is kind of appealing, though during an US run, pretty bad. This is the first I've heard of anyone accidentaly romancing him. Same with Morrigan. Wow. You must be a real charmer. XD

Yeah - I kinda had a similar thing with Zev. My Warden didn't actually go into a relationship with him until they were at or near 100 friendship and Zev had a scene where he wanted to know if they were moving on to the next step.



I was thinking, hmm, you know... that's not a bad idea, but I didn't quite see it coming. Hah, now.. Leliana on the other hand... I saw that trouble right off the bat. =/

Ah Leliana...and Zeveran....and Morrigan....Who woulda thunk it. They all apparently dig ta chunky dwarf warden. Three outa four romances in one game can be done and you can still end up getting each PC approval high enough to receive all the major plot bonuses for each character.



My heart is broken though...I was looking forward to a little QT with Wynne next...

When he asked my female Warden if she would be offended if he said that he were interested in her, she said "Not at all" because she's vain like that. But the next time I talked to him, he's all like, "Hmmmm? " and I get the option to tell him "We need to end this." End what???

Ooooooooh.... XD  I see where things are going awry for people now.  XD  But it realy just means he sees you as a posability... that he's allowed to show interest.  I do think the 'we need to end this' option seems a bit out of place if no sex is happening, though.

No, those are romance starter lines. All the romance characters have them. I'm not sure why it's more confusing with Zevran than Alistair. Zevran's answers when you start the romance are really hot, but it's also REALLY obvious they're romance starters. There's no casual flirting in this game with anyone -- if you're flirting with your companions, you're starting a romance.

Anyway -

A wonky little glitch has happened in a couple of my play-throughs that says it all about li'l Lel.  I have a nice chat in camp with Sten, say "Let's go" and POOF!  Leliana appears right at my elbow.   Andraste's ass, back off already, Princess Jealous McNeedypants.  I'm just talking to the man!

Lel ninja-romanced me once. I didn't even realize it. Except that Zevran was telling me I needed to decide between the two of them, and there wasn't even a dialogue option for "Lel's crazy, of course I'm not interested in her." I did tell her rather politely that I wasn't interested, and the approval hit wasn't massive, but annoyed me that she was so insistent to begin with. Now, if I don't plan on romancing her, I just don't do her personal quest. Problem solved.

Yeah, that one can be a bit subtle. I remember the first game in which I didn't realize it was a flirt option since "do you stare at everyone like that" was a bit obscure at the time. (He was already calling the warden a sex god/goddess from the get-go without an actual relationship so that conversation option seemed normal/harmless enough.) Once I had started the dialogue path, I realized it had been a flirt option and picked the least offensive answer, thinking that it would allow me to back out gracefully, but the romance was already triggered. Now you just know which line to avoid next time. "The more you play, the more you know!" =p

I don't remember exactly what I said to break up with Leilana, but I only took a -4 hit.



I believe it was the "you're going to make me choose" option??

Zevran forced me to choose between him and Leliana... I wasn't even aware of the fact that I had a relationship with her. So I told Zevran I wanted to be with him, I got a -25 from Leliana. I talked to Leliana and I took another -15. That was quite surprising...

Had the same thing happen between Morrigan and Leliana.  I had the conversation with Leliana during a quest in which Morrigan wasn't even in my party.  She gave me the old her or me ultimatium.  I chose her and got Morrigan disapproves -20.  Then I get back to camp and talk to her and get the 'it's written all over your face' speech.  Morrigan disapproves -15.  That really pissed me off, cause it was like double jeopardy.

I've also had a number of ninja love situations with all the usual suspects.  Most of the time I'm completely unaware I'm in a romance with anyone other that the one I'm actively pursuing.  Wham, bam, you need to choose.  I'm like, huh?  WTF.

The worst I've experienced (after dumping Leliana TWICE) is going to talk to Wynne and being chewed out for being chewed out for romancing Leliana! My poor City Elf just couldn't get rid of her.

Oh yes, I can sympathize. I epic fail all romances because apparently if something doesn't come paired with flashing lights and blaring sirens, I end up being molested by Asari or witchy redheads.

But I have learned from my experiences. The game does not know your personal motivations. One dialogue can vary so much depending on delivery or motivation, and to attach your own to it may just...asking for surprise sex or being denied the sex your PC may want. I save before every frikkin NPC conversation just in case someone doesn't mistake my friendliness for flirtation, or my flirtation for a diss and I reload if the reaction was not what I expected.

Which makes me wonder -- would it be better if dialogs that start this sort of thing were flagged somehow? With a big italic Start Romance Track or some such? Or is it better if NPCs can get the wrong idea sometimes?

In my playthrough as the more...care a damn Male Noble, he slept with Morrigan. Leliana AND Zevran before landsmeet and I still don't know how exactly he did that. It worked with his character though.

My dalish male had Morrigan's ring after the first main quest, smooched Zev before they even left the clearing where Zev had attacked him, and then was ninja-romanced by Lel and just went with it before breaking up with her for Zev.  He was quite enjoying his freedom.
