Greetings all, ive been spending some time in dual wield warriors and also noticed some questions wich kept coming up, therefore, i wish to provide my personal opinion to those frequently posed questions :

The BIG question : Dual wield warrior or Dual wield rogue ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the pros and cons of both classes :
WarriorPosted Image
+ Steady armor so it can take hits
+ Berserker/Templar for some good skills that help out
+ Can charge in battles first without it being to lethal for him/her
+ More variety in weapon chosing
- WHAT ? No lockpicking ? but what about the lewt ?!Posted Image
- has to get a high strength for good armor and high dex for all the dual wield spells

RoguePosted Image
+ Better dodge
+ Assassin build is a very nice extension to the dual wield skills
+ Stealth (oooh... sneaky Posted Image )
+ Picklocking (Its only a hobby, i swear !)
- somewhat less defensive armor then warriors can wear
- squishy against magic (= u will take alot of damage if u dont avoid it)Posted Image

--) this is the basic pro/con list, before i can continue, il state that my view is completely neutral and i will base my tips on actual facts instead of class preference

Note:
-Both cannot tank, while the warrior can take damage, i would allow shale (or another companion who invests in shield abilities) to leave it to him/her/it
-dual wield aggros ALOT, dont assume u will be backstabbing the monsters all the time, so dont think ul be taking no attention of a monster as a rogue during the game (they dont stand pretty while ur making a breathing hole for their guts)
-try to avoid the bard build as a rogue and leave it to another companion, spells like those reserve your stamina wich resolves in a lesser use of skills (wich save ur life..; and provide you with pretty entertaining killing blows)
-------
Dual Striking+ Momentum = Godlike ??Posted Image
--------------------------------------------------------
Im going to make a bold statement here, and step on a lot of peoples toes :
Dual Striking is a burden to your warrior and rogue build
- It reserves alot of (unnecessary) stamina
- Just momentum is enough to keep ur damage going, in smaller portions, yes, but almost just as much damage as dual striking on
- the slow weapon in main hand and fast weapon in offhand DOES NOT WORK, Dual striking calculates the speed of BOTH weapons TOGETHER (this is not a warcraft rogue build for the wow players out there)
Leave dual striking and dont put it on... it is my advice and it will serve u and your stamina well
-----
A warrior with Momentum+ a greataxe/greatsword ! awesome !Posted Image
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No, doesnt work, me and my ego learned the hard way
-----
Rogue : Dex/Cun or Dex/Str ??
---------------------------------------------
check this link to see the calculations of this brilliant person :
http://social.biowar...66/index/223777
-----
Warrior : Dual wield + Reaver = Bringer of death ??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
DW Reaver...
Looks cool. Seems tough. Is suicide.
This is a fun experiment in easy when u want to higher the stakes, but for the love of the Maker dont push that Reaver spec button ! EVER ! ... ... What ?! u still want to know why ? ... /sighPosted Image
While u do more damage the closer u are too death, wich will happen alot, u damage urself more with it then damaging the monsters as a DW warrior, the spec point is better used in other specs

With that being said, hope this post helped u and enjoy your game... let the angry posters commence their nerdrage spamming !! Posted Image (just keep it civilised)

yeh Abyss666, im there now with my DW warrior as well - while i can survive since i didnt even specced yet (and i play easy on this char :P) i strongly advise to go Berserker/Templar (though investing points in Templar isnt necessery) - Also stop using the dual striking... stop ... dont... i can still tell ur tempted to leave it on ... dont ...
on a brighter note : theres an addon that allows u to respecc without losing any progress (its also known that the permanent stat bonusses u get from books and circle of magi quest stays intact)

Have fun, add me as friend and message me whenever u feel like asking about more info, also, theres some other posts on this forum that can get u somewhere - enjoy ur game

I know about dual striking I never have it on I usually have momentum, precise striking, blood thirst and berserk on.I regret choosing reaver as I only use devour and frightening appearance anyways.I wish I could use that mod but I'm playing on console

Depends on your personal preference:

DW Berserker/Templar = no thinking - turn on Berserk/Momentum and dive in! The Templar skills helps vs mages. Dual sweep/Whirlwind puts them down or leaves them standing with a sliver of health = easy mop-up kill.

DW Assassin/Duelist = more subtle - stealth up to the mage, backstab him while rest of party storms into the room. Duelist gives defense/offense so you can survive being mobbed - can even deflect missiles (looks neat!) Enemies will split their attacks and you win by divide-and-conquer. Run around back-stabbing whoever you can.

I quite liked reaver on nightmare, it certainly added a little more excitement trying desperately to finish the Orge off knowing that a single hit could be the end.

It certainly is stupid though : ) I never used it against the harder bosses like Gaxkang or the Archdemon because it was suicide, but it was fun against the mobs.

In agreement that Reaver is awesome. Self Heal, One of the best Stuns in the game (Works on pretty much every boss on Nightmare), Decent AoE dmg in AoP, and more dmg in Blood Frenzy. Whats not to like? Sure Templar may give you more survivability but its freakin boring to play as a Templar. With Berserk up and Blood Frenzy I do crazy dmg while having a ton of fun controlling my HP loss. :D

Is whirlwind worth it? Also wouldn't going Templar then Berserker be better? For stats should i put my first five into strength then every level up put 2 into strength and 1 into dexterity?

I personally love Whirlwind.  Its right after Momentum (Which you'll be getting).  AoE dmg on a DWer is a nice bonus.

The only thing I and most people love about Templar is the fact that you can get to 100% spell resist with relative ease.  Every DWer should get Berserker.  +2 STR just for getting it and +8 dmg while Berserk is up is just to good.  Just go Zerk/Temp.  I find Templar boring but to each his own.

On my DWer I pumped STR in the beginning to wear Blood Dragon armor than went enough Dex to get my talents.  Your preference really.  More Dex early = more Def compared to going heavy Str early.  Not really needed unless you're soloing.

So pump strength and get whirlwind and go zerker first.

Yeah my DW warrior is my favorite toon so far, he completely dominates most melee battles. I did spec dual striking at first, it did seem to help with bosses, turning it on, then off seemed to help me land more hits, but I have no proof of such.

It's my understanding that Dual Striking suffers from an animation bug causing it to 'whiff' far more often than it should

Indeed - the dual striking does not rly show you when u miss, im sure though that dual striking is best turned off so u get more stamina - as for reaver, its fun to play but not advised in nightmare - ppl that can are geniusses that surpass my knowledge of knowing how to play the game ^^ - theres 2 ways how to play the DW warrior - u go for lots of stamina reserved abilities (precise striking, momentum, skills like that) and go for the heaviest plate - u have no special abilities, but u basically are at your strongest everyimte - how to play with a char like that ?

--) charge in with all ur stamina reserve abilities OFF - use up all ur stamina on ur powerfull spells like punisher, flurry, etc - when ur out of stamina turn on all ur stamina reserve abilities and finish the job

OR make sure ur fatigue stays 15% and go for armor that lets u stay on that percentage, activate the obvious abilities like momentum, and get some sweeps/flurry or whatever off every so few seconds

If you have Warden's Keep DLC, do you really need Reaver?

As you may know, Avernus' potion gives the GW enhanced darkspawn Blood abilities that are similar to Reaver's abilities. I've noticed that the enhanced Blood abilities are different depending on which class you are. For Rogues, it gives increased speed and agility; Warriors the knockback ability while all classes receive the Blood Lust?? - one where you constantly lose health but gain additional attack, damage and defense. Don't know what GW Mages get - maybe increased Magic or Spell bonus?

Berserker+Reaver+Blood Thirst does incredible amounts of damage.

It's mainly an auto attack kind of build, unless you add willpower, though as Blood Frenzy takes up a load of stamina and with momentum and dual striking activated you already lose a lot of stamina. I simply used Reaver sparingly just to add a little extra excitement her and there.

I definately did find Reaver and Blood Thirst useful together because it was the only efficient way of dropping health as I was killing my enemies so fast that Blood Frenzy wasn't really getting a chance to add much damage.

yeh i know where u comin from with the reaver build all - but lets be honest, its conciously making things ALOT harder for urself :)

i want to compare it to the classic shooter Doom3 - on nightmare, its more fun, u get ur special weapon charged up more, BUT u lose 5 health every 5 seconds ... does this make sense what im trying to say ? :)

DW warrior, Champion/Templar plus Power of Blood abilities, wielding Starfang and the Keening Blade, FTW. Holy Smite to knock them down the first time, War Cry to knock them down the second time, and by then it's just mop-up that doesn't take long.

(Yes, I know I could do more DPS or have better crowd control with daggers, or 'Zerker, or whatever...but that PC on my first runthrough was *really* fun to play.)

Reaver is great and it's perfectly fine for NM. I soloed NM with 3 different Warriors who were all Reavers. Here's a video of me soloing Ser Cauthrien without leaving the room with a DW Reaver, without using any potions.
