Thinking about adding this mod to my game... my character is currently at level 15.

Looking for comments pro/con from those that have installed it.

Easy to install?...works with v1.02?... any glitches encountered?...makes the game too easy?

I used it, but found that it slowed my game down. I don't know why though.

There are literally dozens of mods that alter Dog in some way. "The dog mod" isn't exactly descriptive.

I assumed he meant the one that made him a 'fifth' party member. But you're right it could be anything.

The mod itself works fine, but it seems to be causing problems with the scripts once in a while governing "auto" party modification/change and I think twice or so caused weird situations. Of course, it might well be that I'm running it in conjunction with something else that's causing the problem. I'm unsure.

I like it; you can interact with Dog, command him directly, set his AI, the only thing you can't do is level him up (you have to put him in a "real" party slot to do it). And, if you're a summoner, summoning something makes Dog go away, as he sits in your summons slot.

Actually, using the Dog as 'fifth' party member mod, you CAN level him up (works for me) as follows:

* Select the Dog

* Press "C"

* Now you see the Dog's character screen, including the level up button (like leveling up a companion in the camp)

I'm going to assume it is the one that gives dog a penis, just to be contrary.

Yeah - you're right - the only problem is you can't be certain when he's ready to level because there's no "plus" sign next to his portrait.

I guess you can just keep checking; and of course he's usually ready to level when everybody else is.

Yeah, you can level him up. Click on his icon, and when he is the selected party member, open the character sheet. You can then level him via the sheet.

there are a few times when you need to dismiss Dog, Before entering the provings and the fade, Also before the one on one fight with the guy in denirem, other then that Extra dog slot mod is great.

I love the dog mod. However, I'm not sure what the game is like without it since I installed it before playing the game from a suggestion from a friend. Only problem I had was that if he levels you might not know since it doesn't have a plus like CybAnt1 and imikedoyle were saying.

Now I just need a mod so that if the dog "sees something interesting" he will actually FIND something...

Is the Extra Dog involved in triggered party banter? For example does Leliana tell him how cute he is, if he's in the 5th slot?

I'll use it, if so.

Yes, I have had the Leliana dialogue with it installed. It is a bit idiosyncratic, but not game breaking.

I installed it as I feel my dog should be with me, not as a selectable companion.

I'm not sure if this proof of a Dog Slot-related bug, but ... just tested this.

When I had Dog as a "5th" in one playthrough and headed to the spot where Oghren was supposed to show up, he didn't ... and I never got him. (That playthrough got more bizarre because then I used the console to make him appear in the DR, and wound up with two Oghrens. Very very strange.)

I just tested it with him "banished" by the dog whistle ... and Oghren was there.

Be careful, I *think* the Mod screws up his appearance & join script, if he's "there". (Just use the whistle to make him go away right before you head for the DR.)

"Yeah - you're right - the only problem is you can't be certain when he's ready to level because there's no "plus" sign next to his portrait."

You will see the "heavenly light" flash on Dog when he levels, and if you load a save where he's ready to level up, you'll see the little level notification in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.

I'm running v1.02b and haven't had any problems except for one little oddity which I made note of in the Bug Report section of the mod's page. The modder and I aren't really sure why it happens, but it's not game breaking, just strange. Sometimes when the PC dies in combat and Dog is still alive, Dog's summon slot doesn't go down to the next live character, even though it should. Dog will just stand there for a few seconds and then fall over on his side like a little plastic toy. After the battle, he's up and ready to go again.

I've never had any other problems with him, but my game isn't heavily modded either. Overall, I really like having him there because what's the PC without his/her faithful Mabari?

I found the mod very buggy and discontinued using it.

Most people seem to have no problems but be beware that there is a possibility it can cause a problem in certain instances.

As I said - I can't be sure because I haven't been thorough enough to test one and only one mod at a time - I use a few - I suspect it was the interaction, or mal-interaction, between Dog Mod and another that caused the problem.

The reason I think it was Dog Mod that was the main "agent" was because it's the only one I really have that modifies party selection, per se.

The other weird thing it does - I don't know if you consider it a "bug" or not and it's not a big deal - when you go back to party selection screen sometimes with it enabled - you'll see three party slots open but you'll only be able to take two chars, because Dog is actually "taking up" the fourth, even though his portrait doesn't appear in it. Make him sit down (deselect him; even though he wasn't selected), and the fourth slot becomes available.

Also, and this is really funny, take him as a fourth party member at the selection screen, with it enabled (and him not dismissed), and he's there in the fourth slot and the summon slot at the same time (but no, only one of "him" is there physically).
