There's a huge distinction between the two, especially with more DLC coming out.

See, at the start of ME2 you can carry over your old Shephard, but it doesn't ask you a specific save file to load from, it just carries the general career of the first one. In Mass Effect 2 I now have 3 different endings, 1 on a seperate renegade playthrough, and 2 on the same career.

Save 17 of this career has me post-game hooking up with Tali and keeping the Collector base, but save 18 (loading up an earlier save and re-completing the game) has me staying with Miranda and destroying the Collector base. I'd love if in the next game I get to stay with my ME1/2 Shepard but get to see these 2 different actions come to, hopefully, completely different conclusions.

I suppose the easiest way of doing this would be to detect which save files have occurred after the suicide mission then letting you pick one of those. That way I'd have a choice between Save 17 and Save 18 and all would be cool!

I can't be alone in thinking this is the preferable way to go, and it makes sense for Bioware now they're really embracing their DLC (which alot of us, I imagine, will be playing with out post endgame characters)

Anyone else with me on this?

I am pretty sure it will already carry over saves instead of just the point of killing the boss. when you import a me2 character in me2, you pick the save you want to use.
