Hi, just wondering if anyone could post a build that would allow me to get this achievment, I can't seem to find a build that works. Preferably, can the build be for a mage? Thanks.

yes you can do that. You need spell might and possibly fireball or another spell i can't remember but i got that achievement with my primal mage. It might have been spell might with mana clash because that does always a lot of damage.

Manaclash will easily hit for 250+ damage. Another option would be the entropic Death Spellcombo which also inflicts very high single target damage. In general, use vulnarablity and/or affliction hex when you have trouble dealing high spell damage.

Yesterday, after using VH + AH, Morrigan Mana Clash'd the Alienage General for 3271...

Yeah, Mana Clash is the only spell you need against most spellcasters. It does seriously wicked damage, and I've never hit for under 750 with it. If you add in hexes...it's not difficult to get damage into the quadruple digits.

Yes, manaclash or inferno, both are easily damage freaks. I think I got my achievement with mana clash. It was unexpected since I figured I was a heal spec mage and wouldn't do dps, but it was freaking awesome.

I got it using Death Hex on an opponent standing in a Death Cloud.

Mana Clash is only good against enemies with mana (so only spellcasters, duh!) I think Death Hex/Cloud is a much better combo that will be more helpful

getting Mana Clash means you get Spell Might though. Spell Might + Blizzard + Tempest = Storm of the Century

Is the 250+ able to be done with a Warrior or Rogue, or is a mage your best bet? If you'd accomplished it with a Warrior or Rogue, what spells/abilities/weapon combos were you using?

2h warrior berserker, Final blow. It works especially well on Golems because they have a passive talent that does extra damage vs Golems and other constructs. Hexes may help.

As a rogue, your best bet is to play a cunning rogue, put a load of debuffs on your enemy and hope. Rogue's will easily hit it with Arrow of Slaying but not in melee.

I think the easiest way is to you the arrow of slaying.



If you want to get the achievement quick, make a rogue (any race) and run through the origin. Go to Ostagar. Get Alistair. Talk to Duncan. Get three vials of blood. Return to Duncan and repeatedly turn in the "I got the vials but not the documents" line. You can get to level 20 in 10-15 minutes of clicking.



You only need level 12 or so to ensure Heavy Hitter.



Level up putting all your points into dex and get enough talents to get arrow of slaying.



Go back to kokari wilds and hit a darkspawn with arrow of slaying for roughly 600-800 pts.



I did it for my nephew and got him the origin, level 20 rogue, and heavy hitter achivements in oh... an hour I think.

Cool, thanks for the tips.  I'll try both out tonight, though I'm already at Level 16 with Leliana, so I'll try the Arrow of Slaying with her.

It MUST be your character that does it, not an NPC. Leliana won't work for the achievement.

Virulent Walking Bomb works also, you need a spellpower of 67-70.

Shattering Blows is supposed to give (STR-10) / 2 bonus damge to constructs (Golems, Skeletons, Corpses, Sylvans) but the identifier is broken so this talent does nothing.

Manaclash, even if you go straight for it at the beginning of the game your first manaclash will get you that achievement. Later in the game it's an easy 2k+ damage hit and will 1 shot any caster in the game(bosses included).

The only way I've ever done it is Arrow of Slaying.

I swear I saw an Arrow of Slaying do 999 on a deepstalker but it never registered on the heroic achievements page.

Ah, ok.  Thanks for pointing that out and saving me lots of time and frustration. 

Well, I'll keep trying with my Warrior, otherwise I'll try it on my Mage or Rogue playthroughs.
