Dwarf Commoner should be saved for a warrior IMO. Only warrior that starts with dual-wield. Just feels a lot more powerful through out the game than any other warrior.

As an aside, I have to say I'm really enjoying all the different origin stories. I've played through the game a few times, and now am just exploring different origin stories. It is quite fun, and I'm learning a lot about the different races. Sometimes I save after joining Duncan for later, sometimes I just exit and replay to explore different twists on the same origin. Nice job, Bioware. And, good thread - I tried male city elf yesterday, now want to try as female.

One of the things BioWare really messed up with is the mages. If all you play is mage you are stuck with one origin story. The other two classes get 5. So if you want to play the game 5 times with a rogue, great, with a mage (as I'm doing) not so great. I think they just got lazy with this.

i enjoyed dalish elf the most, the story really draws you in and i agree with carmen_willow, i found the story quite moving. but mage origin was a lot of fun to play once you get all the powerfull and primal spells
. I havent start any of the dwarf origins yet tho, but will start them once I'm done with my mage!

Yeah I think they got slack with mage. I've only played a bit through the origin, but I find mages boring and haven't finished it yet.
Jowan was planned to be another full party companion. The Warden would have used the Right of Conscription to recruit him after Arl Eamon was healed. However, this was cut very early in the game's development.
He would of made a interesting romaceable option for a mage.

I have a question about the Dalish Elf Origin.
*SPOILER**********
When you and the other Dalish find that mirror in that mysterious cave, is that the blight being released on the surface??? Or is the mirror just something else equally as evil, it seemed like your friend comes down with the blight. I thought maybe this was how the Archdemon is awaken/blight released on the surface.

No i dont think it is what release the archdemon because we can see Duncan fighting some darkspawns in the prologue scene and in the far distance i think there was a line of fire which I think meant to represent the darkspawn army. I think the mirror was trapping an evil spirit like you said
.
