I have played trough DA:Origins three times and now i am planning my fourth playtrough. I have been a warrior tank on two of my playtroughs and once a roque. I am still going to play as a tank but i am bored by the weapon and shield talent so i tought i could make a 2h weapon tank. I have to ask is a 2h weapon warrior good or bad at tanking? Posted Image

If by tank, you mean the guy that gets beat up the most, then no, it's not going to work very well. A real tank needs a lot of defense.

You can probably make it work with good crowd control though...

A 2H tank can be feasible if you pump dex. a 2H tank will typically has about 20-30 less def than a SnS but has the great indomitable talent. As far as flanking is concern, you can try positioning a 2H against walls/obstacles to protect his/her back. You can also give the griffon set a shot to be flanking-immune but that is a late-game set + only alistair and MC can use it.

Well, you can get 30 points from the shield alone (champions shield + shield defense). A 2H warrior who is not focused on strength will have very lousy damage output.

There are only a handful of fights where a "true tank" is needed. The rest of the time the 2 hander will be fine. If you have a good mage with crowd control in the back, it'll be fine.

Well lousy damage is ofc expected since the 2H is built for def instead of dmg. Might not be optimal but is definitely feasible. Nothing a glyph or two that will not solve.

According to this, it's the best way to make a tank.

dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Tanking:_An_Alternative_Approach

Because it can give you:
Threat management, stun/knockdown immunity, and spell immunity. I'm playing with one in my party now and he can hold argo, which is the true job of a tank.

I think you should make someone else the tank so you can be the sword swinging badass that takes them all out. or trying being a mage

In my first playthrough I got fed up to see Alistair often dying while trying to tank with shield and sword (Nightmare mode) so, at a certain point in the game, I simply tried to put my 100% 2h specced dwarf warrior to tank/crowdcontrol/dps with his sword (equipped with Blood-Gorged Amulet for more health), heavily healed by Wynne and partially by Morrigan... plus the support of Leliana's pets (I made her a Ranger).
Even without any of the Return To Ostagar or Warden's Keep overpowered gear, It worked great.
