I've been having trouble loggin into the dragon age servers from the main menu. Every time I try to log in after putting my email/password in, I keep getting told to try again. I'll retry a few days later and I'll get the same message to try again. If I try to create a new account, it tells me that the user name already exists, but I'd be using a new email created minutes before.
All of this started happening after I re-formatted my xbox 360 hdd and created a new xbl gamertag. At first, I was able to log in just fine but couldn't activate my dlc codes (kept getting the same error message that many others got), but now I'm unable to log in at all now. I am able to connect to xbox live just fine and download from the marketplace with no issues. I am also using a wireless connection if it matters, but the signal is strong.
Your saves, DLC, etc. etc. are linked to a specific xbox/hard drive, maybe even gamertag. They are not freely transferrable. In addition, you need to have the email used for your active Xbox gamertag linked to your EA account in order to access the servers. This means going to ea.com, signing in to your Bioware/EA account, and making sure that the gamertag/email information is 100% correct. You may need to call EA support to have them manually migrate information from your old gamertag.
I'm at a loss as to what I need to do. If it was some kind of firewall issue, I wouldn't be able to connect to xbox live, right?
Wrong. Different game, different ports, different requirements. The Xbox is smart enough to find its way around firewalls for certain things but this game is asking for a different connection.
That doesn't seem to be the problem. I try to log in at 8 am, 12 pm, 8 pm, etc. and keep getting the same try again message. Any help would be appreciated. I'd like to start up this game again, but don't want to go without the blood dragon armor, stone prisoner and other downloads. The game will feel incomplete without them.
After doing the required EA account maintenance listed above, you also NEED to either learn how to do port forwarding on your router (to open up the ports this game needs to make server connections) or enable the DMZ on your router (Demilitarized Zone) and assign the static IP you specify to your Xbox directly. This will open it up completely to all connections. There may be some details to this I don't know about since you are wireless. I am wired so it was a very simple fix. Once I assigned a static IP to my Xbox that was freely open to the internet the connection to servers failure NEVER happened again.
