Did anyone notice that in some character themes the soundtrack sounded very synthesized? I don't mean as in the sci-fi throwback music, but I mean as in Miranda and Mordin's themes. The instruments in those sound really fake. I also thought the end theme suffered because it didn't sound like a real orchestra, just a few instruments and a lot of synthesized instruments. Compare that to Jack or Legion or Grunt or the Collector themes and they just sound really out of place. Did anyone else notice this? Was it intentional?
I hope ME3 gets a whole orchestra on its soundtrack...

Maybe the makers wanted it to sound at little bit more laid back and futuristic instead of huge orchestras.

Why would they use orchestras for a space epic? Synths are more fitting. Listen to Vangelis.

I know what you're taking about, and I agree, some of the themes, Mordin's especially, sound overly synthesized.  It almost throws me back to the Nintendo days. Perhaps it was intentional, due to Mordin's nature / character?  They do sound a bit out of place when compared to Tali's, Thane's or Samara's themes, which are definitely highlights of the OST, imo.

Thane actually has genuine French horns on his theme. Mordin's just sounds silly, like a Saturday morning cartoon.

Like I said I love the sci-fi synthesized elements. The fake instruments are what bugs the crap out of me.

My guess would be that it is because there are multiple composers, and the samples they use are different and of varying quality.
