Alright I've already beaten the game And dont worry I wont say any thing but Whats up with the weapons? I understand that they wanted to get rid of the useless ones that u pick up and never used but Only one upgrade for each weapon? And what happend to the mako? I enjoyed the random thresher maws you got crazy EXP for them  Im not complaining but I feel like biowear and EA dropped the ball on those subjects a lil. Hell of a game though I'd still give it a 9.5

Mako is being replaced by the Hammerhead, which is free DLC coming at the end of march.

Weapons are better this time round, with actual depth in choices, but more variety would be nice - but it was, generally, a design decision, and there's not a lot more to add...

There are 3 types of upgrade for each weapon.

I'd like more variety also, but at least they are different in many ways instead of just damage.

I think he's referring to the Predator ---> Carnifex and Shuriken ---> Tempest.  Don't tell him about the variety in assault rifles or shotguns...  Sniper rifles don't count, because there's just great single-shot, good single-shot, and semi-auto. :P

Actually, with free DLC, it's:

5 Assault Rifles (There's a fourth if you play Haestrom on Hardcore or Insane)
4 Shotguns (Eviscerator DLC, people)
3 Snipers (Bet there's another one of these soon.)
2 Heavy Pistols
2 Machine Pistols

And for the lucky few who got the Incisor Sniper Rifle, there's actually 4 sniper rifles.

Luckily, despite having the XBOX version, I was able to get every DLC available for ME2 and as such, my arsenal has
7 Heavy Weapons (flamethrower, particle beam, avalanche, cain, Blackstorm, grenade launcher, missile launcher)
4 Shotguns
4 Sniper Rifles  (incisor, mantis, viper, widow)
5 Assault Rifles (geth pulse rifle, vindicator, avenger, collector, Revenant)
2 Heavy's
2 SMG's

I think the weapons approach in ME2 was spot on

Depending on class weapon selection is dreary, if you didn't get a load of DLC. Not spot on for me, lacking variety and choice.
Like handguns, SMGs, and Snipers(only 2 high DPS and 1 rapid fire).

...  Yes, classes with low weapon selection have low weapon selection.  This comes as a surprise to you somehow?

Yes the majority of classes have only 2 weapons to chose from. Handguns and SMGs, being the 2 class of weapons with lowest selection.

My point being that there is less of an actual selection per class.

Given that the majority of classes use handguns and SMGs by default that it would be acceptable to have a wider range of those weapons.

My surprise or lack thereof doesn't play into the equation.

Weapon training. All classes have access to 4 weapon types at minimum if we include heavy weapons.

A wider variety of SMG's and HP's would be "acceptable", whatever that's supposed to mean.  Not hugely needed, though, and new shotguns or especially snipers would be more interesting.

Come on, you're telling me, that you people won't like more weapons to choose from??

This game is not doom, the prefixed weapons don't make sense.

I'm Cerberus operative and can't smuggle illegal or modified weapons, nor I can buy new ones on the black market??

More options > less options

And there is the point; 2 handguns and 2 SMGs is poor selection.

More would be better. I don't want to use the words better, needed, or wanted to avoid something someone would attack but apparently even using a non-biased word like acceptable some people will still attack it.

Hell the way the weapons are specced it isn't hugely needed to ever change them since most don't function better or worse within a given weapon group.

Well some people don't think outside of what is presented to them.
"Bioware does X, and it is fine enough." is the mentality.

I got all of the dlc weapons, and modded the ini so I have all weapons including the 3 specials for every class and squadmate. Now I have plenty of options.

See this is how I think. Now why can't more people see the truth in this? Do you go to the grocery store and only see Cheerios and Corn Flakes? No. If I'm a bad mother ****er trying to save the galaxy on the budget of a secret black ops group i want the BEST! Did Spectre weapons somehow go obsolete in 2 years?

If they're good options.  Which we didn't get in ME1.  The options meant nothing.

Options are options. It is up to each player to decide if they are good or bad for them.

The options in ME1 were scaled on level, sure building up for the Spectre gear but there were options and buildup before getting the top gear.

I much preferred the squad-wide weapon upgrades rather than juggling different brands, levels and add-ons for every weapon for every squad member.

Granted it would be nice to see them expand on the new upgrade system for ME3, make it more tactical somehow.

I think bioware over did it in the weapons department.. While yes a lot of the glut needed to be cut out, and at the end, or on a NG+ having to wait and sell or omni-gel it all got boring and frustrating.. But the fix, in my opinion, wasn't to cut the old system out for a boring upgrade minimalist system (heck, even COD:MW2 has more weapon options then ME2), but was to cull and cut out many of the useless weapons - keeping the manufactures down to 3 for each weapon, each one specializing in a weapons propriety (Aim, power, shots per heatsink) and then limited the number of found upgrades per weapon to 5 or 6 per game (like the current upgrade a-e system (f for AR)). Doing so would have cut the number of "weapons" down from over 400 to less then 90.

By definition, they were bad options - no distinction, effectively offering nothing from their presence.  Having a few, differentiated options is better.

Having several of those is best.

Instead of making ammo a " class power" they should have made it a research option, and individualized each squadmates weapon build. So you could research different builds for each character and not have it where every gun is exactly the same everytime.

They could have made research tiers, thereby giving more options while cutting back on the models. The way they handled research seemed kind of tacked on, like an afterthought to trick people into thinking there was more to modding the guns...which there isn't.

Which is kind of the point. Rather than have tiered weapons who's primary attribute were higher DPS, they went for a choose weapons to your play-style.
The actual selection could be upped, especially for pistols and SMGs.

It's another way to differentiate the classes though.  Pulling that is bad.

I would much rather have real powers for each class instead of what kind of ammo you can use. If you take away ammo as power you see how some of the classes got boned when it comes to real powers. To me it seemed like a lazy cop out instead of coming up with unique powers. What Bioware is telling me is that no one else has the capacity to learn how to load disruptor ammo into a gun? c'mon....
