I rather liked Zev, had just the thing to say to perk up a dwarven who was beset by misfortune.
His advances where puzzling to say the least, as the noble dwarven general was pretty much... unknowing of homosexuality, so he took it more as a elven second to him, a worthy soldier with his blades on a level matching his own, and a skill with a bow that was astounding.
However, when his advvances became more obvious the dwarf would have none of it for his heart belonged to a human who's voice was like soft silk to him, her long black hair and smouldering eyes a becone of beauty. So he kinda yelled at Zev to stop staring at his ass and get back to fighting. When the time came, the fool tried to redeem himself with his ally, and attacked much to the dismay of the Warden.
Just as easily as before, the warden dispatched the group of assassins, Zev's body falling in with the pile amidst the tears. Sorry friend, but i will have none draw steel on me without tasting defeat.
Thane, though a 'Redeemer' as i like to call the persona is a nice guy, with a nice history. But he did not match up to the Late Zevran.
Thane Or Zevran??

Thane, definitely. No contest. Thane actually has some morals, whereas Zevran is amoral and promiscuous. Thane is the gentleman, Zevran is the player.

Thane, because Zevran's fruitier than Carmen Miranda's headdress.

It'll depend on what they do with Thane in ME 3 I suppose. Zevran has a lot more content going for him right now. He's funny and I enjoy his romance arc. He has great banter and quest comments. But Thane's personality appeals to me much more than Zevran's.
Thane is sweet, introverted and romantic. Zevran in-game grew on me over time, but Thane appealed to me immediately. Zevran's romance resolution was properly sweet and romantic though. It was great to see his character development through it. And I really liked how his commentary changed when he romanced the Warden.
Zevran makes me laugh; Thane gives me warm fuzzy feelings.
If Thane's resolution in ME 3 is tragic no matter what, Zevran will easily surpass him. I hate tragic romances.

Hey, don't knock the stoic types!
That said, Sten is so much better than Lizard Boy it's not even funny.
The writing in DA:O was just superior over ME2. And shockingly, Thane wasn't even the worst character of ME2!

I would say Thane, definitely. A lot of it is the voice, and I was kinda turned off by Zevran's wimpy voice. Also, Thane has more depth, is a better squadmate (Zevran is probably the worst assassin I've ever seen fight) and he's better looking.

Would Pirate Zevran board the MSV Lizard Boy?

Altair.
However, between Thane and Zevran I have to choose Thane. Although Zev has much more content written for him, I think he is a little too generous with his lovin. They both have sexy voices and looks though. Thane is more mysterious. I hope BW gives us a chance to get to know him better.

Zevran is an Assassin, acts like an assassin.

Zevran
Zevran made me laugh when I talked to him.
Thane got on my last nerve when I spoke to him.
PS. If you actually get to know Zev he won't betray you, heck he's even following me and Leliana to Amerthine, or at least he said he wanted to.

Thane. definitely. Zevran is annoying, too much ego. betrraying bastard. ugly too. not spirited. slower, more boring... Thane has this... something that makes him more assassinative... and... serious. Zevran is like a big ****** kid.

Zevran, by far.
He's a sexually ambiguous Elf who constantly draws attention to himself, has a decent set of one liners, and who has the ability to become incredibly loyal to you.
Thane is a boring, one dimension fish man with eidetic memory flashes, which are incredibly annoying.

I can't talk seriously to Zevran. He just reminds me too much of Puss in Boots. Which would be fine if I pictured Antonio Bandares every time I spoke to him, but instead, the only mental image I get is this:
