Hey there, I just joined today because I have hit the strangest crisis (well set of problems to be frank) I have yet to encounter in Xbox 360 gaming.

You see I was on my second playthrough yesterday, about to beat it on hardcore. I was working just as I had done in the original ME1, start on vet and end with insanity. So I was on hardcore at the end, I got to the last boss, and my game froze, I reloaded the save and beat it with ease, but of course things didn't turn out as planned....

I went through all the cutscenes and stuff, and I didn't get my achievement for beating the game on hardcore. Now before you think of anything, I NEVER lowered the difficulty, or raised it, I ensured that it stayed on HARDCORE from the very beginning to the end past the credits. The fact that I didn't get the achievement doesn't bother me compared to what happened, the Hardcore Achievement in my Mass Effect 2 game IS gone....

The achievement is absent in its entire being, as if it never existed in the game. I've searched through my twin achievement screens a dozen times over (one in game, one out) and even called my bud who confirmed that the achievement was still on his 360. IT is gone, I've even counted the achievements to discover that the Hardcore one is no longer listed....

These are the following things I have done, and oddities that have happened to me, since I started my hardcore run.

1. Installed ME2 to my hard drive about half-way through. I had wanted to see what the experience was like but deleted it after beating my hardcore run because it made my game quite glitchy for some reason.
2. Thane's loyalty mission screwed up twice, once I fell through the floor and a second time when the guy I was trailing fell through the level. I reloaded both times and completed it, Thane's outfit wasn't unlocked but he still got his bonus power and loyal status.
3. As a full paragon commander, I was unable to end Miranda's and Jack's fight without choosing one over the other. I chose Miranda because Jack, in my opinion, is ugly and has less character than a cardboard box, the same can be said for Miranda, but in the end...the shiny bald head ruled my decision. This was odd because as only a 75% paragon on my first playthrough i was able to end the fight by choosing both sides.
4.  Tali's romance went WTF. When I hit the scene before the last mission, I was greeted with my imported Shepard staring at a picture of Ashley, which is odd because I did not have a romance option on that character in the original ME. When the scene faded to black, the game froze, I restarted it and was greeted by Tali's scene that time. From then on, everything was normal, except for one last thing.
5. Jack survived the last mission. As the only character without loyalty or upgrades I knew she was doomed. However, she survived the mission unscathed and was even confirmed killed during the suicide mission but appeared in the last cutscene. After I didn't get my achievement I continued my playthrough but discovered that she was indeed still alive, and still very angry at my Shepard...

Answers would be gladly received if any are able to be given. I have been stumped on this problem for quite a bit and I'm hesitate to start my insanity playthrough until I'm sure I won't go through Glitchtown a second time. Of course I doubt much can be said or done to help me discover what went haywire besides blaming the install on my hard-drive, which I myself am beginning to do.

Bwahahahahahahahahahaha..........no seriously........bwahahahahahahahahahaha.

ROFL ZOMG OMFG LMAO LOL

There is NO Hardcore achievement for ME2 and there NEVER was one. The ONLY difficulty achievement that ever existed for ME2 is the Insanity achievement....PERIOD.

Good read though.....I haven't seen so much clueless in a single post in a very long time. I can't stop laughing.

This statement is accurate, a hardcore achievement never existed in Mass Effect 2. Insanity? Yes, but there is no Hardcore achievement.
