Nope, it's laziness.
I can buy this for the first ME. New IP, new game, don't know if it'll be a success.
But in ME2? Come on, we're supposed to get a feel that people are being turned into Husks. Since human colonists and soldiers aren't 100% made up of men, I just don't get that feeling.
Also I want to see Turian females damnit, it doesn't make sense to make such a huge issue out of the Asari being monogendered when you make all the others virtually monogendered too.
Well, husks are husks. They already do represent both genders, as there would be no way to tell a "male" husk apart from a "female" husk.
As for turians, as much as I'd like to see females, if it isn't in the resource budget it simply isn't in the resource budget. The turians, krogan, and quarians use an entirely different skeleton than the humanoid models do. It's not as easy as having males and females of every race like in Oblivion. We're lucky we saw the male quarians, even.
