There are no turian females in the game. It's not a case of being unable to tell them apart from the males.
BioWare should REALLY put female turians in ME3. It would make the universe feel so much more believable.
Ah yes, "females". We've dismissed that claim...

The thing is, while this might be logical, it would be bad storytelling and bad writing. With the salarians it's reasonably understandable - it's mentioned in a roundabout way in the Codex, and if the theory about hooded vs. hoodless salarians is correct, there is a visible difference between their males and females for us as players to see.cedardryad wrote...
I agree completely. I was going to mention this. We can't tel all animals' sexes by looking at them. If you look at a cat or dog from the face its really hard to tell the sex from the face. In cats, usually the face is slimmer than a males. With dogs, it's not so easy. With reptiles and birds it's even harder. Certain birds need genetic testing to tell if they're male or female. I had a couple of chows and the male looked more feminine and everyone thought our female was a male. She was very butchy.
For all we know we have seen a good amount of females, we just didn't know. Maybe not all species dress their females in a seperate fashion.
But as far as the Turians go, there's no mention in the Codex that male and female Turians look and/or sound similar, so if they suddenly said 'yeah, you've seen lots of female Turians, you just didn't know' all of a sudden, that would be bad writing and bad storytelling, because they know that we, their audience, expect a difference, and if there is no difference, they needed to make that clear early on. If they wanted to introduce the concept in a normal, seamless way so as to make it clear that the characters in the universe are used to the males and females looking and sounding the same, they could simply have made any Turian character a female, and had them referred to specifically as 'she' in some dialogue - nothing special, just pointing out to the player that it's a female Turian. Such a thing has never happened, however, and I doubt that case of bad writing/storytelling will show itself, this is Bioware after all.
But they really do need to get a female Turian model created soon and hopefully include it in some DLC. Same with a female Batarian model, though that seems very easy since they're almost identical in bodyshape to humans (are they identical? I'm not even sure. With helmets on, I can't tell a Batarian from a human.) so there's not much reason why we shouldn't see female Batarians pronto.
