I love Legion. I hate that I can only use him for a few missions, and the game is over pretty much once I get him. Is it possible to hack/mod Legion into the game earlier, so I can use him for loyalty quests and such?

A fine time would be after the collector ship, before the IFF (this is when most subquests are done by most, I'm assuming).

Obviously there would be some bugs during the mission where you find/meet/recruit Legion, but I'm sure this can be avoided by simply not placing Legion in your party for that mission.

Any thoughts? Possible?

Yeah, on the PC version you can edit some values this program (Coalesced Editor) some smart person developed.

My latest playthrough I've been playing with Legion and Tali right after Freedom's Progress. It's awesome how they have dialog for everything.

Like when the "imperfect krogan" throws that metal plate aside, Legion comments "Is this a heavy labor model?"

Pressed enter after the subject line, and somehow this forum thinks, instead of moving the the text box, it's good to keep focus on the 'submit' button.. :P

@Sergio
How would I do that? I have the mod manager (for coalesced.ini) which lets me edit the ini's values. I also have a savegame editor but it doesn't have many options.
I'm guessing you know where the necessary Legion values are in the coalesced?

Yes, how does this work? And are there any known bugs at some point, or can you play it through?

This thread details what to do: http://social.biowar...iscussion/4124/

I remember reading some time that the game may break if you unlock some characters early, though It's been fine for me thus far (I'm past the Horizon mission). Still, I'd recommend you back up your coalesced and your saves.

I'm guessing having him in your party would cause the game to bug out during his recruitment mission. I had the game bug out on me when I took Jacob out of my party during Jacob's loyalty mission... so just stay aware of the game's scripted events.

But yes - How do you add Legion to your party roster before you officially recruit him?
edit: thanks, will read

I think there should be an option to enable earlier recruitment on unmodded (360 and PC) versions of the game as well. Once you've beaten ME2 once, it be an option when you choose to start a new game.

It would change up the order a bit and you could hear more of that dialogue. I too felt that I didn't get much of a chance to better know Thane and Legion who I picked up last. Wasn't Tali supposed to be recruitable earlier as well?

Posted in the legion fan group:

Thanks to the internet and it's many intelligent users (/sarcasm) a way to have Legion from the beginning of ME2 is possible.

Step 1) Download and install this tool allowing you to edit the Coalesced (File that contains weapon, squad, mission, and other game data): http://social.biowar...m/project/1854/
Step 2) Open it up, and search for the folder you have ME2 installed to.
Step 3) Use the search bar and search for "SFXGame.BioSFHandler_PartySelection"
Step 4) Find "AvailableLabel=IsSelectableGeth" and change "Geth" to "Leading"
Step 5) Click on the Rebuild Coalesced tab
Step 6) Enjoy Legion ingame, his loyalty mission and everything else should work just fine

Notes: You can edit a lot of things with the Coalesced editor, such as giving weapons more ammo, making shotguns useful, adding the ability to use five weapons as any non-Soldier class, and more.
Legion apparently has audio (voice, opinions, etc) for nearly every mission in ME2.

One person did report his game 'broke'. I can't imagine what would make the game break, however. Can't you just restart the mission and not place Legion in your party? Or simply use a different coalesced for that mission/script? Dur

But this mod is not well documented, along with whatever 'bugs' may or may not exist. Does anybody have first hand experience playing through fully with Legion modded in your party?

I did this, but I do have one concern... as soon as you get him, Legion gives you his loyalty mission. This means that you don't get his initial dialogue -- you only get the dialogue pertaining to his loyalty quest, and the dialogue after that. Much of his insightful dialogue happens after you first bring him on board -- when you first wake him up, but before his loyalty mission. Do these conversations still happen after the IFF mission, or do you miss out on them? Does anyone know?

I'm sure they're scripted to show up when you first bring him on board. I'm not sure, however.

Anyone? Beuller?

i havent done this yet, but i am curious, if you use the mod to unlock legion, does he only show up as a selectable character in the mission start menu, or does he actually occupy the AI Core in the ship.

because if it is the former, i would assume with a fair amount of confidence that you get to interact with him normally with all the dialog from awakening him after the IFF mission as per normal.
