I used the Bloody Grasp talent from Warden's Keep DLC during a fight and it's staying on as a permanat Status Effect.

I've re-loaded the game numerous times, including re-starting my console.  I am playing on the Xbox version.

It's showing up as active on both the Character Info pane and on the in-game HUD.

Is there any way to de-activate this? It won't let me cast it since it's reading it as already active. It doesn't say it's passive so I am guessing this is a glitch?

That's odd, if its not passive you should just be able to select it again to deactivate it. If not, have you tried letting your character die in battle?

No, I haven't tried dying yet but that's a good idea.

It has to be a glitch due to not being able to cast it. I guess it's reading it's already active but it's not a passive spell.

I doubt clearing my cache will help

I'm also no longer getting the Grey Warden Commander's armor set bonus.

Hello there. Same thing happened to me - I have the bloody Bloody Grasp on my character permanently. I wonder, does it mean I have permanently reduced health too (read the spell description)?

I discovered that Bloody Grasp will deactivate upon death. Not the best way to end a status effect :) I can only assume that the health penalty is meant to be a permanent one, though the description doesn't say so.

The main problem here is that Bloody Grasp isn't a status effect, it's a spell.

For whatever reason the game is treating like a status effect though.  I'm not sure if I'm taking a permanant hit to my health, as it always re-gens to full out of comabt.  My problem (other than it being annoying) is that I can't cast the spell in combat due to the game reading it as already being active.

Looks like there are more and more having this issue. Keep the posts up and maybe it'll get fixed. We all know how hard console patches are to come by though.

Just curious to those with this issue, are you also not getting the set bonus for the Warden Commander Armor? From others I have talked to, if you experience one, you have the other other bug too.

Ok, I've discovered a, rather, awkward way to get rid of at least the icon of the bloody grasp (not sure what happens to your health, but am hoping thet gets back to normal too). All the same, I stopped using the spell altogether just in case.

To get rid of the icon, cast dispell on yourself. I found it the easiest to do by using Alistair's second tier templar ability. It is a bit annoying, having to restart all your maintained passive spells afterwards, but at least the bloody grasp is gone too

Thanks for the tip, Alistair's ability does remove the "debuff."

been playing with perma-bloody grasp. Not a big deal to me but now I have a problem with the Blood Dragon armor. My character's appearance doesn't change no matter what I do. Even naked he still shows the armor in game and underwear in inventory menu. weird. A funny thing though is I have equipped a sword and he now only has his 2nd slot Staff. Which instead of using properly, he just whacks people over the head with it. Dunno if that is how the sword animation should play out if the weapons and armor displayed correctly.

I came here seeking help for the Bloody Grasp problem as well. I hadn't noticed that it wasn't casting though. I'll have to specifically look for that, i.e. put the NPCs on hold.

I gave Alistair the Grey Warden Commander's armor and he's getting its bonuses, most noticeably that +50 Stamina (nice). Looks sharp too.

I'm very disappointed with the sword though. The two-slotted dwarven axe he went into Warden's Keep with is much nicer in all its stats, at least to my fairly novice eye. BTW: It looks nice with the Lightning and Cold rune in it.

I came back to Warden's Keep right after clearing it, from the Party Camp, and found it already re-popped with the Chest and the merchant's family. I've got to say I'm quite disappointed in both he and the swordsmith's inventory, but also the fact that I can't go back inside the Keep. Will their inventory ever improve? Nothing for mages.

P.S. After posting I just noticed that this is a PC Tech Support Forum, but I'm playing on the 360.

My mage also has perma-Bloody Grasp icon showing. I don't think it is doing anything detrimental though.

blah I have the perma blood grasp going on me as well but too low a level for Alistair to have that dispel. I have too many other spells to pick other than a dispel... maybe I'll pop one on Morrigan.

OK, so its established: There's a glitch with Bloody Grasp:wizard: ---> :(
Now the next step of this query line is as follows:

Does anyone know if Bioware is making a patch for this and other glitches?

bump: I have the perma bloody grasp as well. Only way to remove it is to cast dispel on myself. (Of course that will mean re-casting my sustained skills :( )

Just wanted to bump, as I also have the issue with Bloody Grasp.  Anyone at Bioware aware of this issue?

Also have this problem. Bump.

UPDATE: Did some testing and found that the bloody grasp "buff" doesn't affect your health.  It's purely a graphical glitch, so nobody should worry.

My health w/ bloody grasp = 156/156

My health after having bloody grasp removed by templar cleansing aura = 156/156

Therefore, there is no need to worry about a permanent health reduction.

Bloody Grasp does instant health damage, like casting a spell with Blood Magic activated. It does not reduce your max health.

As NetBeansAndJava said above, this is purely a graphical glitch that has no effect on your character.

Broken record - but BUMP anyway. I'm on the PC-version and the Bloody Grasp icon is not going away.
