When i heard for the very first time who loan Kaidan his voice my first reaction was... NOT HIM AGAIN!

It was Carth which was my most hated character from Kotor.

I don't really known why but his voice simply kept me off from crossing that invisible line between friendship and become Li.

I am not quite sure if Bioware made right choice to put actor who voiceover Carth as Kaidan voice because even my sister after hearing some dialogs between FemShepard and Kaidan says "Sorry bro but he is undateable personality"...

Jacob... well he have luck that my Shepard decided to stay loyal to Liara otherwise if he will started whit this "prize" speech i will feed him Thresher Maws on Tuchanka...

Keep in mind that Kaidan lives his life in constant pain from his implants. He's used to being in pain. If he's injured too much to be able to get to the ship on Virmire, then he's gotten a huge injury. There wasn't time for him to limp his way to the ship.

So how does being shot in the leg and/or having broken ribs equate to him being weak? If anything, the fact that he didn't cry out in pain says a lot.

As someone who has not read the thread, are both LI's not equally acceptable?

Garrus and Thane don't whine. Kaidan and Jacob don't really whine either.

Honesty, stop whining about whining or else I'll go on a whining rampage of my own about how much I hate it when people whine about certain characters being whiny.

Geez. :P

OK. Then he is not whiny for you. Even if I didn't care about whining  Kaidan is  still boring, dull and unintersting as hell.  I can't forget Mansel in Distress picture a.k.a rescue from Virmire.  As a character Jacob seems better (minus romance) IMO.

Yes, it was such a horrible change of pace after almost every game I've played up until this point has been cute girl gets kidnapped because she's a complete ****** and it's up to you to go save her because she obviously can't do anything on her own. How terrible they changed that just once so it was the man who needed saving for once. What was femshep doing? She should have been taken off in a helicopter by Saren so Kaidan can be a man and rescue her <_<

That scene was one of the greatest things ever for me because for once there was no gender stereotypes and I got to be the hero.

Yes. It was.:?  Attractiveness of a man is hitting a floor for me, when I see him being carried by a woman in a damsel fashion. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Right, so if I happen to run into an injured man who needs my help to stand because of a gunshot wound in his side, I'll make sure to tell him to "suck it up and be a man, ****," before walking away. Seriously, a man is somehow weak because he needs assistance? I'm thinking there are many times where men in the military need to carry their wounded soldiers out of harm's way. Or is it just because it's a woman who does it? Should I have asked Wrex to do it for me?

I hate this stereotype. I hate that my gender is always the damsel in distress. I don't understand why this situation was so wrong. It makes perfect sense that a military woman in the future would be able to carry her team member off the battlefield. And it doesn't make Kaidan any less attractive to need assistance after being shot, I'm guessing, numerous times by geth.

It's classic romanticism, propogated particularly during Arthurian cycles. Women are there to either be protected and won over (read: Olwen, Iseult, etc) or as antagonists or hinderers of knights in shining armour (Morgan).

Also, I blame Disney.

Kaidan being carried by female Shepard is basically just recycling animations. Plenty of stuff is recycled in Mass Effect, basically what happened is that the Ashley model was switched with the Kaidan model. Same thing for Kaidan wearing Phoenix armor on the Normandy, unless he likes hot pink.

For example, the animations that the squad mates perform after sovereign crashes into the citadel are always dependant on the slot they're in - first slot squad mates will perform one animation invariably, second slot squad mates will perform the other invariably.

It's a bunch of **** is what it is. We aren't hunter-gatherers living in the wilderness anymore. Women can be pretty hardcore, and Kaiden got shot the hel up by a f*ckbillion geth. He's no less a man for being carried off and the story is no worse for it.

Kaidan isn't an exceptionally large man, and FemShep is a space marine who's been trained to the highest grade.

Exactly why is it so unbelievable that a woman could pick up a man in such a circumstance? Stop looking for problems where there aren't any.

I too sense a great disturbance in The Force.

I bet Kaidan and Kelly would be best pals, though. They could underwear-swap all day.

But yeah, the whole male/female role reversal thing... pretty silly. Alliance soldiers are suped up. Enhanced strength, endurance, rear spoilers, large exhaust, subs in the boot, go-faster racing stripes and everything. Female Shepard is every bit the super-soldier that male Shepard is. She's not made of china, and she kicks ass. I'm sure if she was the one shot down, and the roles were reversed, nobody would be complaining because it's "oooh, natural" for men to save women.

i always say he and FShep had a bet, which he lost.  The day the Normandy crashed, is the unfortunate day he had to wear the armor.
Jacob would never be manly enough to follow through for his priiiiize:sick:

Or it's just Bioware being lazy, lol.

This. It's much easier just to use the same animation for both Ashley and Kaidan. I'm not saying that femShep couldn't or shouldn't carry Kaidan, but that people are assuming that Kaidan is less masculine when they haven't considered how often animations are reused. Basically what I'm seeing her is Kaidan just using Ashley's animations. Could be wrong. But it's much easier to plug characters into preset animations rather than creating new ones just for them.

Jacob is not really a strong character, he is just a douche who critizes all of Shep's decision's and shoves his face in every meeting whether it is to welcome a new crewmember or make a major decision in the game.  Add to this the fact the director forced all dialog with Jacob to be sleazy flirting and the romance to run like a bad porno and there is no reason fo any femShep to like Jacob.  The very few Jacob defender's are people who played maleShep and see Jacob as a buddy character to some extent.

There are lots of other reason's to hate Jacob as well, but since they have already been listed on the past pages I will not go through them all again, people should read at least some of the pages before they post.

"Jacob defenders" don't "feel the need" to defend the character.  Kind of hard to defend a character I had no role in creating nor writing their dialogue.  I do think the "romance" was poorly written and clearly I'm not alone in that sentiment, but some of you take this so personally its amazing.  I'm a guy and I only roll male characters so yeah, to me he's a great buddy character in that regard.  He's a much bettter buddy character than Kaidan IMHO.  I'm sorry but Kaidan was a little woe is me whiney in my eyes and apparently other people seem to share that same sentiment.  The only thing I know about the Jacob/Shep romance are youtube clips and comments on the board.

That romance dialog, however, is truly cringe worthy though. So is his loyalty quest IMO where he father decides to enslave his crew and pimp out the women Posted Image...I still don't know how the hell that got approved through QA.

Lol. You are making assumption that I won't help an injured man becasue I wrote that Kaidan being carried by a femShep is ludicrous and a turn off? You're funny. In the wrong way. And it's not about that Kaidan is not rescuing femShep, it's about how that scene looks and it looks like recycled menShep/Ashley scene - it did not add any points to a Kaidan character.

I love when people are stating subjective opinions as facts. *Sigh* You are aware that people are different and have different opinions on what is attractive or what isn't? If not , I am informing you: yes people vary in that matter and if it bothers/annoys you so much that I consider Kaidan a boring whiner, then what can I say? Life. Blame it on whatever stereotype you want. OP asked about opinion on LI's, mine is Jacob (though both are terrible IMO).
