This. It's much easier just to use the same animation for both Ashley and Kaidan. I'm not saying that femShep couldn't or shouldn't carry Kaidan, but that people are assuming that Kaidan is less masculine when they haven't considered how often animations are reused. Basically what I'm seeing her is Kaidan just using Ashley's animations. Could be wrong. But it's much easier to plug characters into preset animations rather than creating new ones just for them.

This is true, but it's not a feminine or masculine animation unless you really, really hold dear the concept of the MAN carrying off the woman every time.

Reused animation or not, there is nothing feminine about getting shot and being carried off by a genetically enhanced super soldier.

I was stuck in a hotel room much of the time this weekend and watched Forest Gump and I do not recall thinking what a bunch of ****** they are when Forest was carrying member's of his unit to the pick up zone in vietnam, and Gump is far less capable then Shepard.

Lol. You are making assumption that I won't help an injured man becasue I wrote that Kaidan being carried by a femShep is ludicrous and a turn off? You're funny. In the wrong way. And it's not about that Kaidan is not rescuing femShep, it's about how that scene looks.

How that scene looks? A soldier is rescuing another injured soldier the quickest way possible.
What else does it need to look like?

Come on everyone female shepard carried kaiden like a little b***** at the end of the virmire stage Jacob is a strong character worthy of my female shepard and remember people thios post is not about garrus and thane only jacob and kaiden.

Jacob is not really a strong character, he is just a douche who critizes all of Shep's decision's and shoves his face in every meeting whether it is to welcome a new crewmember or make a major decision in the game.  Add to this the fact the director forced all dialog with Jacob to be sleazy flirting and the romance to run like a bad porno and there is no reason fo any femShep to like Jacob.  The very few Jacob defender's are people who played maleShep and see Jacob as a buddy character to some extent.

There are lots of other reason's to hate Jacob as well, but since they have already been listed on the past pages I will not go through them all again, people should read at least some of the pages before they post.

"Jacob defenders" don't "feel the need" to defend the character.  Kind of hard to defend a character I had no role in creating nor writing their dialogue.  I do think the "romance" was poorly written and clearly I'm not alone in that sentiment, but some of you take this so personally its amazing.  I'm a guy and I only roll male characters so yeah, to me he's a great buddy character in that regard.  He's a much bettter buddy character than Kaidan IMHO.  I'm sorry but Kaidan was a little woe is me whiney in my eyes and apparently other people seem to share that same sentiment.  The only thing I know about the Jacob/Shep romance are youtube clips and comments on the board.

That romance dialog, however, is truly cringe worthy though. So is his loyalty quest IMO where he father decides to enslave his crew and pimp out the women Image IPB...I still don't know how the hell that got approved through QA.

Sounds like Bioware's writers need a woman's touch. Who would have thought that a bunch of guys would be so inept at scripting a romance or developing a male LI that women would like.

They tried the latin lover and chocolate thunder. Are you ladies ready for an asian studmuffin next?

I didn't like it. Period. It looked misplaced and weird to me. What else do I have to explain?

In case of impending doom, I don't care who the hell carries me to safety so long as they don't drop me.  It's really hard to feel manly pride when you're dead.  So I've been told, anyway.

Also I don't see where Jacob was criticizing all of Shep's decisions. I remember him not liking the fact that Shep recruited the assassin (not surprisingly) and he thought Legion should be tossed out of an airlock (not surprising either if you did Tali's loyalty quest) but beyond that I don't recall any other criticism other that him giving his opinion on something just like every other character did. Those other actions must be tied to the romance option because I don't recall any of them and I'm on my third play through the game.

By the way, if you send Kaidan with the Salarians, and then procede to rescue the Salarians and him and leave Ash with the bomb (man that's a sad cut scene her alone, shot, shooting as the encroach upon her and she sees the Normandy fly off just before the bomb goes... *sniff*) femShep DOES NOT pick up Kaidan, she reaches out her hand and helps him to his feet and everyone scrambles onto the Normandy.... which is what I tend to do on all but my most Renegade runs so that I save the most lives.

I don't recall any instances where he specifically does this either aside from his understandable apprehensions about Legion and Thane. Almost every other time he disagrees with you it's in a place where someone in your squad is scripted to say something along those lines, be it Jack, Garrus, Jacob, etc. It just seems unfair to lambast one character for something like that.

I did not even like Thane very much, but Jacob criticizing him because "I dont like mercenaries, and assassin's are just precise mercenaries" line, I was looking for the Shepard responce to say, "You mean, mercenaries just like your a mercenary, hypocritical much there Jacob?"

I played as male Shepard who was paragon and never once did I see Jacob disagree with me or whine about my actions. Still, I heard his romance was pretty terrible so I wish that Bioware did a better job with that. At the very least, don't make it so femshep has to sound like she wants to rape Jacob.

Technically Cerberus isn't a mercenary organization because they don't do work for hire though. Doesn't mean they aren't just as bad and untrustworthy when you get down to it, but they definitely don't qualify as mercenaries.

Well this thread is hilarious. I've never hated any of my Shepards enough to force them through a video game romance, so I haven't heard most of the romance dialogue. But a lot of the comments in this thread make Jacob sound like an uncharismatic idiot. That's never really the impression I got from him. Does he really change that much if Shepard has a romance with him?

That's another thing, i wanted to talk to him but Hale's voice molests him everytime she wants "to just talk for a bit." That was as yucky as the priiiize comment.

The only reasons any of My Sheps would ever flirt with Jacob is so they could see his hilarious reaction when he realizes she's picking the Turian or the sexy assassin over him!

Cerberus is a terrorist organization, Jacob is a hired gun who is willing to work for them despite what they stand for so long as the mission's he is a part of he find's acceptable.  Hired gun working for money=mercenary.

Did Jacob ever say that he was only working for the money though? Last I checked he actually did seem to support some of Cerberus' beliefs, rather than just being there for the sake of a paycheck. Frankly I saw him more as an employee/somewhat relcutant follower, but then again that's just my impression of the matter.

It's like dr Jeckyll and mr Hyde. But the "priizzze". Jacob is not a  bad character at all if you ask me. Just romance is bad. :/

Jacob worked for 2 organizations, the Alliance and Cerberus.  You'll note that everyone on the crew of the Normandy did the exact same thing, Joker, Chakwas, the engineering crew, and the cook.  I guess that makes them all mercenaries too.

Pretty much yes, though I think the majority of the crew on the Normandy was hand picked to make Shepard feel at home and give him/her the impression that Cerberus isn't so bad after all.

It is also quite obvious that most of the crew have no idea what Cerberus is really capable of, the only plot hole in the whole thing is Joker, a pilot of his implied skill could have easily gotten a job, Cerberus was not his only option.  If the dialog had suggested that Joker joined because he was told he would work for Shepard again, that would be different, but that dialog does not exsist.

But Kaidan is seems to be half japanese half ukrainian, oh, whatever, that's all just speculation.

Either way, the 'latin-loving' are two of the better romances int he game, imo
