They've said ME3 is the last Shepard game, whether from death, retirement, becoming the head Reaper, what have you.

The best route for more ME games are prequels featuring Anderson becoming the legend he is by the start of ME1.

I imagine it is going to be hundreds of years after ME3 ( just like they are doing SW:TOR ). Tali hints at 600 years in in her personal quest, and in that time period whatever actions you made would not matter for squat ( I imagine they are going to have the Genophage cured by then, as well as the Rachni not totali extinct, etc )

As for the threat. I for one SERIOUSLY doubt that the reapers are going to be fully defeated in ME3. But if they are, then well. It could a be a new Krogan threat, or an unknown race from beyond Citadel and Terminus space trying to take over the Galaxy ( most of it is unexplored )

The whole galaxy doesn't resolve around Shepard only! There are many more people\\aliens, who can have their own stories after Shepard's concludes his (unless Reapers eradicate all organic life in galaxy in ME3..)

( now that the Reapers are gone, existing races fight over limited resources

(d) Collectors leave behind genetic record of (1) Protheans (2) a big bad evil race.

I'm going to say that after ME3 the next baddy is going to be the council. Because they STILL won't believe that the reapers exist.

After the third ME will be done. The development team will probably be bored with the IP by that time and want to work on something new. Though EA might try and make more games in the ME IP with other development teams which will fail miserably.

My quess is that ME3 will be the last rpg of ME series and after that maybe the future ME:s are just PURE shooters or RTS:s with killing merc bands and/or counsil species wagin war against eachother

I can't imagine any enemy ever being the kind of threat that the Reapers pose. But there's endless scope for new threats, wars and enemies to emerge.

Despite the silly attempts of humour in this thread, the only vialble suggestion standing out would be the one about Anderson becoming the guy he is. I like that - we could have an entire new triology about him, if there is to be a new game in the ME universe.



However, I'm afraid that using and reusing the same universe all the time will wash it out - after all, there are only so many "run over to that guy in that corner, talk to him and get back here" you can do... I would rather see Bioware doing something else to be honest, leaving an excellent game/triology to be in peace. And as I said, the fanbase will soon rip that universe to pieces anyway...

There will probably spin-offs if EA thinks they can milk the franchise even more but I believe ME3 will be the end of Shepard's story. If ever there was another Mass Effect title coming out, it won't be about Shepard.

actually if a prequel does happen why not start it off by discovering the technology that jumpstared earth 200 years and also maybe play as saren seeing as itll be before me1? they can also throw in anderson since they have history with one another

I don't want another game after ME3, that would preclude too many end--game scenarios.

ME3 should have endings where the Reapers win (one where you simply fail, the other where you are the vanguard of their decimation), or where you just succeed in a Pyrrhic victory, at the cost of several systems, or even the Citadel.

It'd be pretty hard to set a game after that.

The game of course has to be more of a shooter than an RPG, if this should be realised somehow. I want to experience some fine space battles and epic shootouts between the two races!
