I kniow Velanna isn't Morrigan but i think there is some resemblence. She is dalish though but quite a buxom girl just like Morrigan was. :)

I doubt. In the trailer she mentions whe is fighting for her family while morrigan had you kill hers. I think the only similarities are that they are apostates and the hairstyles.

Are Dalish mages considered apostates by the chantry?

My understanding and recollection was that they are different beasts.

Uh, don't all females in Dragon Age share the same boobays? Posted Image

I was under the impression that all Mages that are not controlled by the Chantry are Apostates. I think that the existence of the Dalish Mages is supposed to be pretty hush hush.

And the mystery of Wynne's magical bosom deepens.

I seem to recall David Gaider saying that Dalish magic is a bit different from the typical mage. More focus on nature or something.

As such I don't really know if they would be considered apostates or if the chantry even cares. They probably do and they probably are considered apostates, but I dunno. Depends on how different the magic really is.

In this context, it might be more appropriate to say that the mystery grows. Posted Image

At least, that's what I'd prefer. Posted Image

Technically, I think Dalish elves would be considered apostates. But they're sort of.. The safest apostates there are. The Chantry is on pretty rocky ground with elves to begin with. And the Dalish are very tight knit clans. They wouldn't be likely to just hand over their mages to the Chantry to kill. But then, all mages in the Dalish clans seem to become the Keepers of the clans, or at least apprentices to the Keepers.

The only thing that bothers me about Velanna is her hair. Did they HAVE to give her Morrigan's hair? Morrigan was the only female with a unique hairstyle. Now she suddenly isn't. :|

Mostly just irritates me because I have to remake a new character since I have that hairstyle modded in. And I used it on my HNF.

And the truth surfaces! It's not that they stole Morrigan's hair, it's that you stole it first. Posted Image

My understanding and recollection was that they are different beasts.

Some groups, such as the Dalish, are, for all intents and purposes, outside of the jurisdiction of the Chantry and the Circle, and will carry on their own magical traditions. A Dalish Keeper has considerably different training than a Circle Mage, as their tradition is supposedly based on the old elven magics. A Keeper typically has a First, the Dalish term for an apprentice. ~wiki

I really have little doubt that she will survive the joining, she looks just that annoying.

I wouldn't even call her a mage more like druid to me.Morrigan's hair style looks cool on the elf, but i have to agree with you it was a uique hairstyle. they should have just giving her a new hairstyle.

I don't think Valenna is another Morrigan; according to the trailer, she has a personal reason to be fighting -- Morrigan had to come because her mom sort of made her... in part of the ritual. I think the hair and the fact that she's a mage is causing some speculation that she could be another "Morrigan" for the OP. Still... they could have given her different hair... lacking in hairstyles? No matter, someone might make a mod to change Valenna's appearance -- I wouldn't be surprised.

No one could be "another" Morrigan. Ever.

She's kind of taking Morrigan's mold, but shaping it in her own way.  I think I'll like her more than Morrigan, though.

Velanna seems to be a lot more fiery than Morrigan. Even though it appears that Velanna hates humans, she's angry about something to do with her family being hurt, so unlike Morrigan, she values love. Also, the Dalish have a really close and tight-knit sense of community, while Morrigan's been isolated all her life and sometimes doesn't even understand that helping people will work for her own self-interest because of it.

I think Velanna will end up being a lot different.

One of the reasons the Dalish have to constantly move around is that the Templars know that their leaders are all mages and so hunt them. They care.
