I never understood the problem people have with Meer's voice acting. I think he's very good

with fem shep you feel like you re part of the game, with male shep you feel like there is a guy doing a voice over reading lines off paper

To be quite honest, I really can't stand Jennifer Hale's voice. I tried playing as a female, but it seemed like a real chore. To be honest, I really enjoy playing as a female in games. In dragon age, playing as a female and experiencing the romance will Alistair was one of the greatest game experiences I have ever had. However, I simply couldn't get through me with my female Shepard. The voice acting seems a bit droned out to me.

could it be you are tone deaf??? or you just have no clue what acting is???

here is a test to see if you have any idea of what good acting is...

Do you think Will Ferrel is a good actor??

if you answered yes to the above question you are clinicaly stipid therefore cannot have an informed opinion on acting

Hey now, no reason to get rude in an opinion thread Hizoka.

Personally, I've played both through in both games, in some instances I like Meer's flat delivery of the VA and in others Hale's ability to add emotion to her lines worked better. But that is just my opinion. Take two random people, place them in a sound booth and play the same music clip, and guess what? Asked seperately neither will hear the same thing. To each their own, which is the great thing about RPGs like the Mass Effect games and others, you can modify parts of the story to suit personal likes.

I agree. It comes down to what you like. It makes no sense to say that blue is better because you like that color. Still, a lot of people happen to like the voice of FemShep and most of them give the same reasons why they feel that way. ;)

Always play male shep. Femshep always sounds bored. And if Meer is really that bad I don't notice it. Probably because I usually do renegade. It's hard to sound like you're giving a wooden delivery when all of your lines are telling people that you aren't to be ****ed with. I admit my expoure to femshep has been on youtube, but her reaction to mordin singing alone just made me like maleShep that much more.

Also, I'm a guy and doing a romance line where i'm trying to seduce a guy doesn't feel right to me.

EDIT: oh crap and I forgot the hair.  THE HAIR!!!!! god the hair in mass effect games is so awful.  why would I CHOOSE to build a character that has such terrible hair graphics?  I have to stare at the bac of that thing for hours on end while playing, by the end i don't think i would be able to take it.
And I know, there are bald women options, but bald women are weird imho.  Men can get away with being bald or having crew cuts, at least.

The hair definitely needs some improvement. Her hairdo looks to me like it's from a 60s' TV ad. ;)

True. Not only is the lack of hair styles disappointing the choices we do have a limited to about 4 which look reasonable.

I mentioned it before and I will mention it again. I know its so minor and insignificant compared to some of the issues presented with ME2, but I was really looking forward to customising my femshep a lot more. There were a couple of what I thought were large and point hitting threads on customisation on the original ME board. As a result I expected more styles for her to the point I thought I "knew" it was happening. When I saw the same ones it actually bugged me more (and still does) then the no helmet toggle. Yes I know! lol

We know Bioware can create new hairstyles (look at the NPC styles which have been modded for shep) so please can they sort it for ME3! Pretty please?!

I play them 50/50, my "main" shepard is male Sheploo but my femshep is a very close second. I'd say I enjoy both equally. With regards to voice acting, I think Mark Meer does a good job but Jennifer Hale's voice acting is superior.

Even if this poll is off, I think it shows interest for FemShep in the community.

I agree with you on the customization part. It puzzled me too. In all their polishing they must have forgotten that. ;)

I always play as a female Shepard, because it allows me to relate to the character better. I like Hale's VA, even if it's emotional and sometimes "butch", as someone said. I think it fits the character well, at least the (mostly) renegade I play.

I have only heard male Shepard's VA in clips, and I initially found it quite unemotional, but it might be because I've gotten used to the female one.

I have updated the original post with cool links to help promote FemShep.

You can also find 8 new FemShep signatures in the first post.

BTW: You did vote in the poll, right?

About 1000 people voted already. Have a look.

:)

I play both, but to be honest. I just can't stand Hale's voice.

My main Shep is a male based on me, but out of all my characters, it's 50/50. Playing as a Femshep just feels more like I'm watching somebody else doing what I tell her to do, so the fact that Hale seems to "act" her lines more while Meer's delivery kind of leaves it up to me to fill in the blanks totally works for me.

I also happen to think Jennifer Hale's Shepard voice is incredibly sexy, but, uh... nvm.

I've added some more sig images. You can see them in the original post. Now it also contains a little tutorial how to add them to your forum sig, how to make them clickable, and how to remove the ugly orange border displayed on the forum by default.

We've just passed the 1000 votes. :wizard:

Since the poll's start the picture remains the same. People (at least the forum members who voted) seem to favor FemShep.

I've added 8 "I support FemShep" sig pics to the original post. :)

I prefer playing as a femshep, although I've done playthroughs with a male Shepard. Dunno why I favor femsheps, really. It started with ME1 and since then, I always give the female character a shot when possible in a game. I figured if I'm going to stare at someones back and face for over 30 hours, it may as well be a pretty face and a well-proportioned back...

I see a lot of people ranting at either one of the voice actors by the way. I don't have a clear favorite actually. Although I think Hale delivers an all-around good job, whereas Meer's delivery is more hit or miss.

Jennifer Hale is the perfect voice of what I would expect a special forces expert (N7) and elite soldier to sound like. For a RP (role-play) point of view, FemShep is much more fun to play!

There are certain moments in the game where the female voice acting is a bit uninspired, but otherwise after my first playthough in ME1 with the default male Shep (for the romance achievements), I switched to all-femshep mode, and I've never looked back ever since. :)
