i think mark meers VA is spot on for maleshep. Shep (fem or male) isnt there to be over emotional. he (or she)  is there to get the job done, by (as i play mostly renegade characters) any means nessecary. he (or she) doesnt have time or space for over-emotive dialogue if he 9or she) can convey what he(or she) wants without it.
i have a male vanguard, modelled on me, male soldier modelled on jason statham, male sentinel modelled on sam worthington, and a default male adept. i also have a female inflitrator, who looks pretty much like the default femshep but with longer blonde hair. im a male, but the only reason i dont have more female characters is because i hate short hair on women (no offense). give me mirandas hair and yeah i could go another femshep to round out my set

Sheploo MaleShep for the romance options (Tali, yum) and "standard character"-appeal that I have going.

FemShep for the pretty-factor, voice acting and romance options (Garrus, yum).

I use male sheps because I can relate to them far more then a female character. I also prefer the male VA.

Always female. One of main aspects that make the game so enjoyable. Not only cuz of visually but the voice acting is so incredibly well done, top class!
Dunno about the male version, never tried and not going to.

If Tomb Raider's Lara Croft were a male the game wouldn't be half as attractive.

I play male because, being a guy myself, I find it alot more relatable. Though I do like to screw around with a female Shep every once and awhile.

Also, an interesting bit of trivia, don't know why, but when I play a female character they are almost always evil...

I play a male every single time, in every video game I play.

I just feel weird when piloting a female body.

Same. It feels wrong somehow. It's even worse with the LIs.  I want to make femshep sleep with Liara, but that's my peeps talking. How do I know femshep is lesbian?

Yeah I overthink my characters.Image IPB

I play both, but I definitely prefer Femshep. It's rare in a game to be able to play a female lead who can actually pass off as a badass instead of a super model with a gun/sword. That and I can't pass up playing as a chick in heavy armor.

Mostly Fem-Sheps here, I did try to play a male once. I'll give him a go for ME2, but I found it impossible to make a good looking Male-Shep. Never seen one, either.

I do prefer Fem-Sheps voice work, too.

What no choice for " I play both fairly equally"?

My choices are:
-Male Shepard that is a paragon.
-Female Shepard that is renegade.
-Male Shepard that is a renegade.
-Female Shepard that is paragon.

After that my choices would be based on romance choices that I might be interested in doing. That is if I play ME2 more than the 4 times.

I already apologized for that.

Edit: If you have an equal number, use the first gender you've played.

There seem to be something wrong with the poll and blog comments. Various people have reported that they cannot see comments of some of them. All we can do is to wait for a fix. ;)

My thoughts exactly. I have already tried Male-Shep in ME2 and the voice acting simply doesn't come close to Hale's. As for the face, I have spent like half an hour in that editor trying to make my Male-Shep at least a bit presentable but... well, Recon Hood took care of that.

Haha, yeah I completely agree. I never have the patience or motivation to do a maleshep on the creator. I get bored really quickly.   So any custom one always comes out sub standard.

However creating a perfect girl on the other hand.  Yeah I have sat for VERY long periods of time on the creator making femsheps.   Then I get in game and after three hours decide her cheekbone should be higher and start again. lol

I do think that both VAs did a good job and that you can get something bearable out of the customization screen if you try, but I still prefer the FemShep. IMHO playing a female Shepard adds 10% more fun to the game.

I've played both and I honestly prefer male shepard. Both actors did great jobs, but I don't really like femshep's voice for some reason. That and it feels strange for me to play with a female avatar.

I have no preference AFA game play. However, if I'm going to stare at someones ass for 20-hours, I'd like it to be a female one... just sayin'

I think they are. Would you deny the power of Male-Shep's ass?

What ass?

They don't bother showing curvature on the male models because this game is by guys for guys. The females, on the other hand, wear skin tight armor that crawls up their butt cheeks and huggs their ******. Dispicable!!!

It's strange to me how many male gamers play with female toons.

I myself like to identifie with a character, so playin' a FemShep is out of the question...

So does this imply most of male gamers would like to be women for some reason? :)

I play as a guy because I am a guy in real life..that's really the only reason. Call me close-minded or W/E.
