:devil:Yes, I think some people including myself want to play with our buds... is it wrong? Nope! So let's ask nicely the people at Bioware to consider this. They've already said they're wondering about it... so let's ask like good fans and point out what these good fans tha give them their paychecks and keep this awesome Space Opera franchise going! I guess we can so let's start with saying how we may want to play a Multiplayer.

It'd be cool if you're playthroughs have an affect on your multiplayer. Either new guns, make your classes better, those upgrades you waste your time mineral scanning or a boost on your level, etc. I mean it'd ensure that those that buy the game play the story.

****Co-Op is possible. An MMO is possible but why only speak of the Competitive Multiplayer?

:alien:Let's go to scratching off options:
Why no co-op?
Because sure for your 360 it'd be cool to sit in your couch with two guys playing as your favorite Tali and Garrus, helping you kickass... but what about the PC gamers? Being cramaped with your keys with two more people... your hands being like a game of twister.
And MMO's... that answered itself already! A MMO wouldn't be the step that Mass Effect needs to go. For most fans would rather go and see how Shep's story affects the future of the galaxy rather than have a huge mess of people destroting and saving the galaxy.

Questions that come to mind:
1- Is it too much to ask?
Bioware gave us 2 discs full of game and plenty of free DLC (still ongoing) yet we wish for more. It's not greed it's just wanting the max of your favorite franchise. Most of us gamers are expecting Bioware to wanna beat Final Fantasy XIII's 3 discs with an epic four disc game! And it's true don't lie it didn't cross you mind!

2- Should it come in the story discs or on a separate disc?
If it were on a separate disc it would make the multiplayer have more room for more epic maps, classes, weapons, abilities and etc. Of course it would mean that the story on each disc would be extremely shorter if each disc had a copy of the multiplayer... so which of these two options save the trouble?

2A - IF it's a separate disc, should it be sold in an expansion pack for the third game?
Well I don't think one wants to watse an extra forty dollars for just a multiplayer (even if perfect). Especially a game that's based on it's great story. This is obviously not up to us but... I'd like to think it comes with the package,

2B - IF it's separate should it be a DLC?
Free or not I'd like to doubt it'd be downloadable. It'd mean it'd be shorter than what we want to imagine. I wanna hope that it never comes to DLC. It would mean that it'd be below average. Sure we've downloaded games that you can buy but doesn;t it take too long? I'm all up tp getting it if it's DLC but I'd like to hope not.

3- Should we be allowed to custimize the chracater like our Shep's? Or like an alien?
I know some of you first though: I wanna play as a biotic volus! But if you play as an alien you need to put limits. You can't have a krogan engineer, no logic. A biotic geth would be stupid since bio means life and geth are AI's. So that helps... but we don't want here are your only three alien options: asari biotic, quarian tech expert, turian sniper, krogan soldier. That would be boring! We wanna be able to fully custimaze it. Human or alien I think you should have the freedom like your in-game Shep.

4- Will it make our Mass Effect 3 that we await so long come latter?!?!?!
Most likely yes. I know lots of you think that the Xbox 720 will come in two years and even if we won't know until it's six months close... I think that the evidence points it will come a lot farther than that. SUre I could be wrong but what I do know is that both Microsoft and Sony want their consoles to last more or less five years! They point out it's not in terms of fame when they speak of the troucles it has. Sony wants to make that Playstation 4 with a holo disc, a empty holo disc costs around one hundred dollars... that is a problem that they need to solve. Good thing, that a holo disc is can hold up to 6 terra bytes!Microsoft doesn't even know what disc to use for their 720. They don;t want SOny to provide them with the Blue-Ray or holo (Sony was willing to give them rights).  Further evidence is Project Natal (Microsoft Motion Controller) and Sony's Motion Controller (Arc?). Theire coming this year and we think that yeah it's just for casual gamers but even if you wanna get it or ignore it... have you heard any upcoming games that are gonna use this controllers? No. Strange? Yes but it is good solid prrof. SO we have plenty of time to wait... even if that final scene made us anxious!

5 - Will we play it?
Come on ME fans you know you will! So many people play low-quality story like Modern Warfare 2 just for it's online. People play Halo and it has some low graphics. So what's stopping you to play a game for a good game with this generations's best story, some of the best graphics to be seen through your eyes and an awesome online?

Also those PS3 users wanna play Mass Effect. SUre they can use their PC's but instead of thinking they rant. We know a Blue-Ray has loads of memory space so... why not release Mass Effect 1 and 2, a month or two before Mass Effect 3, for the PS3? Come on Bioware we know you can do it!

EDIT: No "we" the. And by "we" I meant some fans, not everyone there are always those bashers that just deny everything in sight. I know you'd be introgued to just satrt it out. Offline or online are good options. And the game is sopoused to make good use of strategies but it mostly ends up you doing everything. So why not give it a try?

Add ideas and questions. Make a discussion and try not to bash me too much... also Garrus is the coolest!^_^

This part of "We" doesn't want a Multiplayer. Multiplayer will just ruine the Game. Period. It will mean the Devs have to balance the classes, it means they need to waste time on Multiplayer Programming and it means they will need to fix bugs which usually bother a small fraction of customers. Like getting stuck in Midair. In Singleplayer game its annoying and you die, reload and don't care anymore, unless you should consult someone about anger management. In Multiplayer people will grief about it as if their lives depended on winning in some unimportant pixelmatch and their scores on some message board.

It also will mean a lot more people will come here expecting to "know" how to play the game more than another person because their multiplayer score says something that translates to: I have no life outside my room.

No..,. this part of "We" doesn't want Multiplayer at all. Not every single game that is coming out has to have a multiplayer part. If you want to play Multiplayer, this part of we, thinks you should buy a game dedicated to Multiplayer. Your Multiplayer Experiance will benefit much more from it.. as to expect developers to develop for singleplayer and multiplayer experiances. And most importantly... our all singleplayer experiances will benefit from the Devs not wasting programming time on multiplayer aspects while there are great Multiplayer Games on the market.

I think they should just add a duel system where you could play a friend 1 on 1 in a small arena type setting it wouldn't be all that hard to do and they wouldn't have to spend as much time balancing.

I'm not a big multiplayer fan (though I like couch co-op).

If you really want to talk about plans for ME multiplayer, I think you should make it clear that you are talking about how we can get it done, not whether we should or not. When you ask the latter, you will just get trolled here.

I appreciate your positive enthusiasm, by the way. :)

Personally, I'd love to see some multiplayer...simply because it adds quite a lot to replay value. It'd be fun for a pvp fight, but I don't know how that would turn out. A team firefight mode of taking your character online and teaming up with several others going against another team sounds fun. Or a co-op mode where you just fight endless waves of enemies. I don't see how this would ruin the game, as long as they kept their basic ideals for single player intact and just added on a few multiplayer modes. I feel like as long as multiplayer came secondary in development, it would be okay.

Is there something wrong with balancing classes? To me it seems like a very basic thing to do, there's already complaints about biotic classes being underpowered on forums.

No online multiplayer, that's all I want to say about that.

However, co-op would be great.

Exactly if people are already complaining imagine with PvP. Have you played WoW or any MMO. People will start ****ing about the slightest change to any class. Coop would be fun. Firefight against waves of AI enemies starting from Mercs all the way to Preatorions.

Just no PvP or any competitive multiplayer. Unless if its a Pinnacle Station type DLC. Where we have real leaderboards.

The game is easy enough as-is even on insanity. Allowing co-op would just make missions trivial. Besides, with co-op what would be the point of the NPC teammates? Nobody would want to play as them since they are inferior to Shepard who typically have more powers to use. It wouldn't make much sense either to see 3 Shepards in the field.

Multiplayer (i.e. TDM, CTF) would just be terrible. Personally I think 3rd person FPS multiplayer of any kind is trash. Gears sucks, Uncharted is mediocre, not to mention the balancing that would be required for the classes which is a nightmare for any game involving different classes.

Is there anything in Bioware's development history since NWN, or anything at all theyve said about the specific nature of the ME trilogy that makes you think theres *any* chance of there being Multiplayer in ME3 ? Especially when theyve got a dedicated multiplayer space opera game in development elsewhere?

Anything at all?

If they made a multiplayer focused Mass Effect game then it should be a spin-off of the trilogy. Take look at all the multiplayer 1st/3rd-person shooters and note how crappy the story is compared to Mass Effect.

Bioware doesn't have a lot of experiance with competative multiplayer games anyway so they'd be more likely to license some other developer to make it.

They make MMO's... it should basically be the same in theory. Adding customation and others to make it their style. I know that most competitive multiplayer have a crappy story. I'm always shocked how people replay it but then I take a look closer and realiza why: Acievements... or they don't know how a good game story actually looks like.

I'll try to look it up, but in one issue of Game Informer they told the nice people there how they wanted to try Competitive Multiplayer and Co-op. Sure you could say "not enough data". But wouldn't it be cool if you played a game with Multiplayer and not get disgusted by the game's poor story.

How hard would it be if you are familiar with the process. Level ups being as easy to use like the game or put auto-level up like the game.

If we have competitive multiplayer it would seriously ruin a lot of the game, i'm not looking forward to the balancing act and the nerfbat swing.

It royally effs up games, i.e. all the crap with WoW

I would love it if they did something like Pinnacle Station for Mass Effect 2. It would actually be GOOD and if they add leader boards... :D. That would be awesome.

Leaderboards?  This is an RPG... Do you have any idea how meaningless that makes stats/rank?

IT's not going to happen. The game wasn't designed for it. Just consider the bullettime problems alone...

I hope with all my hoping abiltity that the Mass Effect trilogy doesn't end with an online version as part three. You know, the way Lucas Arts did with the KotOR "trilogy." No mmo (or any other form of online play) for single player rpgs!

Co-Op would be really awesome online and off
whether it be in story or a hoard/firefight/whateverelse mode
Im just not sure competitive multiplayer would work that well. Biotics would be cheap
plus thats such a big thing that it would probably take away from the main story

Why does somebody say this ever single game? It's like the "needs salt" of the video game world. You could be making a gardening simulation, a bunch of Red Bull-chugging e-sporters will come in and demand competitive multilayer.

Last sentence = yahtzee. Rock solid :)

In reality, BW is probably being pushed by EA to get this thing done in a timely manner. Sure... you can say "naw dudeeee it ain't EA" , but given all the change from ME1 -> ME2, I find that hard to believe. Don't get me wrong, I love ME2, but it's not watered down, it's DUMBED down.

Long story short, multiplayer development would only eat up time and resources.
