This is reposted from what i posted last night, but is lost to the forum void

I finally dealt with the MSXML6 thing, and now i'm having the
database issue, and not sure how to resolve it. The installer seems to get the MSXML6, SQL setup support files, SQL Native Client, SQL VSS Writer installed, but when it gets to the SQL Server Database Services this is what it is
telling me now, and while i think it is related to what other people have posted, i cannot seem to fix it.

"TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup
------------------------------

SQL
Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The
error was [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]CREATE DATABASE
failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check related
errors.. Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed
error information."

Anyone have an idea how to fix this?
I really want to get the toolset working so i can get familiar with it.
And the whole finding the protect folder and unchecking "Use simple
file sharing (Recommended)" thing from the wiki doesnt work, as that
command doesnt exist (WinXPSP3).

Also since the toolset doesnt fully install, the uninstall program doesnt install, so i cannot uninstall the toolset and try again. I have tried the Wiki, some of the other posts on the forums, but nothing has worked. I think this is the last install issue, but i dont know anything about SQL Server stuff.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

have you tried completely removing the toolset and MS SQL and trying again?

I had the same issue as the origial poster. Here is what I ended up doing, after multiple un-installs and re-installs:

1. Uninstall MS SQL - anything that start with this or looks like it has anything to do with it.

2. delete the folder toolssql folder within the tools folder of your Dragon Age install

3. add to the permissions of the tools folder 'everyone' with full control (this may be more than needed, but this is what I did, and it worked)

4. when you get the first error message, delete the 'temp_MS_AgentSigningCertificate_database.MDF from the data folder under \\tools\\toolssql\\MSSQL.1\\MSSQL\\Data.

5. I then got what appeared to be the same message, but I had to delete a similar named file under

\\tools\\toolssql\\MSSQL.1\\MSSQL\\install data

After that, the install completed, and everything appears to be working! Let me know if you need any details on the steps above. Hope this helps. I spent most of my day trying to get this working...

thank you thank you thank you, I will try this now and see if this fixes the problem.

Unfortunately i didnt know that the Toolssql folder would not have any affect on the game installation, so i wasnt about to remove it without knowing for sure. I will give this a try tonight.

It figures, that file isnt there...

Question, did you stop the install then delete those files, and then start the install from the beginning, or did you delete that file when the error message came up?

Okay, now the error message is just slightly different.

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup

------------------------------

SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near '='.. Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed error information.

The file that you were talking about didnt appear in the data folder, it appeared in the Template Data folder, and it wouldnt let me delete that during the installation, and if i ended the install, deleted it, and then restarted the install, it still gives me an error.
