I created two saves from somewhere around Miranda's loyalty mission, intending to get into something with her in one while remaining loyal to Liara in the other. It was a disaster. We had a nice conversation afterwards, and I thought I was doing everything right. But ever since, she gives me that "we have a lot to do" speech, and I can't get her to talk about anything besides what she does here and how the Normandy is doing. I don't even know how I blew it.
I just finished Jack's mission, escaped their confrontation without losing either, and after getting ignored by Miranda, tried to see what Jack was up to. She said we have nothing else to talk about.
Does Shepard stink or something? LOL

Did anyone else get the vibe from the Illium encounter that Liara isn't that into Shepard anymore? She seemed more interested in whoever-the-hell it was that the shadow broker spaced in Redemption.
Yeah, she just went and tracked down your body and stole it from the Shadow Broker cause she had nothing better to do at the time.

I wish to stay faithful to Liara from the first game but how far is to far when it comes to flirting with the other female crew? I havn't done the deed with anyone yet but there is definite flirting going on.
Thanks
If her picture gets turned face down in your cabin, then you've gone to far...

What's marriage got to do with "staying faithful"?

I have so far avoided 'hating' on a character that people like, but that's pretty much all I saw Liara for...plot device. Her voice was uinspired like most of Meer's work and her 'personality' is a little too naive. What makes it worse is the 180 she does in ME2. Whatever inkling of respect or affection I had for Liara (and I did have a little) was erased when I heard her threatening to flay someone's mind along with some trite comment about an 'Asari Commando Unit', like that is going to be what strikes fear into someone's heart. Personally, I think I would be far more wary of a Krogan Kitchen Patrol than an Asari Commando Unit.

So you think Tali would be all nice if the shadow broker tried to get Shepards body and killed her friends? I think not.
Dunno. I think the writers botched. They could certainly screw up Tali, and I am praying they do not. Why do you think the thread for Tali is so long?
As I wrote before, I was never overly fond of Liara, but I did have some respect and affection for her...right up until the part where she's casually threatening to flay peoples' minds and does not seem to offer much of an explanation to mitigate the shock of her words. Hey, she has reasons, I will grant that. But the writers painted her into an ugly corner and now she's stuck imo. I don't like what they made her, what can I tell you?
I would dislike Tali if they did the same thing. It was awful.

I think the scene makes sense. Liara struggles to appear threatening herself (no experience); so she has to copy her mother.

Well obviously we've been over it and over it in the main Liara thread, but I agree. She's just copying her mother to put up an intimidating front, and still doing very poorly at it. It all feels and seems ackward because it is suppoesd to be ackward for her to act like that.
That's not to say that BW didn't do a horrible job with the entire reunion, because they did, but that in particular I thought was a very telling part of the scene.
Now when she starts talking about putting people in coffee cups and neither her nor Shep acting like anything had ever happened between them previously is when it becomes rather groan worthy on the "BW failed" scale.

We've a lot of evidence that what we actually saw was a mutilated stump of what Bioware originally had planned. It seems Liara had a significant role to play in the story of ME2, and they changed it for various reasons (some legit), cutting a signficant amount of content. What they left was abbrassive and disjointed, and painted a very poor picture of Liara.

You know, its really too bad the writing *did* turn so many people off when it comes to Liara. If that's what they were going for they did a wonderful job. I just have a hard time accepting the idea that they did that intentionally.

I agree that the scene was probably torn apart and redone several times, but I do think the end effect was intentional. They wanted to make sure as many people as possible dumped the old LI's for the new ones to "validate" their decision to sideline them in ME2.
