Is this stuff vendor trash?
It shows in the "other" tab so I figure it's not for crafting, it has no "use", it's not labelled as "gift", so should I just be vendoring this stuff?

nope lol. when you solve the quests for the Blight, you get certain emmisaries from each group you helped. You can trade those with the mage emissary I think to get experience points.
Elfroots/Deep Mushrooms etc... can also go like this.
And another emissary eats up runes for exp

God dammit I'm just starting to get into this game and my inventory is like 20% full of crap that I have to hang onto for later.

Yeah, what this game needs urgently is a storage locker in your camp. I mean, I saturated my inventory with crap for Shale, dragon armor, gems, and armor for future characters...

I guess there's always the warden's keep chest, but that's a bit... out of the way. I'll probably end up going mod crazy after my first playthrough and the first thing I'll install will be that camp chest.

If you look on the Projects tab of this site, one of the devs has already made a mod which adds a storage chest in the campsite.

Or you could just buy backpacks when you find them. My inventory is up to 100 spaces and I know I don't have all the backpacks available. I also craft like a madwoman whenever I get enough ingredients for potions, poison and traps.

it's not like you have to hold on to the runes/gems, the reason you get to trade them in later on is for when you no longer need to sell that crap for gold. So until you can trade it in it's vendor trash, sell it and buy some stuff. Or if you still prefer the xp you can sell it early, then use the gold to get xp anyway from redcliffe tradein. BTW it's dwarves that take the gems, and only medium rareness, not greenstones etc.

I'm starting to get sick of this ****.
How many ****ing more times are there going to be hidden uses or techniques in game that you are given 0 clue about. Theres no hint that these useless and fairly low cash value gems can be traded for exp. Nor is there any clue these Roots/Shrooms have any use beyond potions. As for the runes, i gave some in by accident and i swear there was absolutely no acknowledgement i'd gained exp for it so simply reloaded to not waste my runes. Plus isn't there something about 'upgrading' items sold to merchants?
