1) Audio cuts out during the Samara/Morinth confrontation, as well as truncated dialogue lines at seemingly random moments throughout the game, as mentioned by previous posters.

2) Playing from HDD

3) Stereo (5.1)

4) This has only occurred in ME2

1. Ironically enough i have not noticed the thing during the clash with Morinth and Samara. I always do the renegade or the paragon option though (so that i can choose who dies) if that is any difference. I have noticed on Thanes loyalty mission, once where you update him, Shepard doesn't say anything but his lips move. And at one time, i think its on the reaper ship, Miranda is talking and gets cut out by a cut scene, it only happens if you bring Miranda though and i have not noticed it with another character.

2. Only HDD.

3. Stereo and Surround.

4. Haven't noticed it in another game.

1.

(a) When Biotic Slam is used, the actual "SLAM" (into the ground) is muted. This is especially noticeable when weapons are being fired by either friend or foe alike.

(B) Enemies hit the floor silently after being suspended in the air by Biotic pull / throw / singularity. (that wasn't the case in ME1 where they always hit the floor with a THUD; unless this a design choice for ME2 and not a sound issue)

© Passing through the Omega 4 relay with a non-upgraded Normandy will cause the music to abruptly and completely cut-out the moment the Oculus activate and attack the Normandy. The game then becomes music-less until the Oculus battle with Shepard in the cargo-hold is over, and Joker pulls the Normandy out of the debris field.

(d) Horizon -- as the Collector ship escapes a squad-mate will speak (something about half the colony being on-board the ship), but is suddenly cut off midway through their sentence. (this occurs with anyone you bring along)

2. HDD.

3. Stereo.

4. Only ME2.

1. During the Samara/Morinth fight, right as they duel with their biotics.

2. HDD

3. Stereo

4. Only ME2

Turning sound effects off makes the dialogue and backround music play as normal, there seems to be something wrong with the battling biotics sound effect. It's a pretty odd scene with no sound effects but it's workable.

1.) Morinth and Samara fight

2.) DVD

3.) Stereo

4.) ME2 only

Also this may seem stupid but check the audio file and make sure that it is not a MONO file if it's ony during Samara and Morinth. I've had that happen to one of my video projects and a simple fill channel effect fixed the problem.

1.     In the mission N7: Blue Suns Base, the sound goes out after I enter the base and stays out for the entire mission, sometimes continuing to the Normandy.  It has happened at least 2 playthroughs by my brother and I.

2.       DVD
3.       Stereo speakers from my hdtv
4.       no other games

1- Morinth/Samara like everyone else. Also, when the group of oculusus (oculi?) first show up to attack the Normandy after entering the Omega 4 relay. The music pipes up for a second when Joker notices them and then it cuts out. The whole space battle is fought with no music, only sound effects. When I fight Oculus on foot, there is still no music, only sfx. If I then reload the autosave for the cargo bay fight with oculus, the music then plays again like normal. Happens every time.

EIDT: I see someone else mentioned itls only when you go in without an upgraded normandy. I didn't not notice the music cutting out my first playthrough, but every playthrough since, I've been rushing it and not upgrading my ship completely or at all, and it has definitely been happening.

2. Xbox 360 elite hard drive installation

3. Stereo. (have not tried surround sound)

4. Only Mass Effect 2.

1. Happens on occasion in fire fights especially ones involving the revenent machine gun (though the sound crackles and gets unnaturally garbled, not cut out). The only time it cut out completely was on the N7 mission on the strontium mule. All sound was gone until I left the ship.

2. HDD

3. Stereo

4. No

Sotmetimes it happens when I fast forward certain diolog points by pressing the X button.
The points I really don't remember but However sometimes when I come across them again later on or am playing it with a differant character.

I am playing it through the disc. No my CD is not scratched up. My copy of MASS EFFECT 1 is badly scratched up but doesn't seem to be having that issue. I am having honestly having Audio cut outs happen more on my copy of DRAGON AGE ORIGIN's than on MASS EFFECT 2. No that disc is not scratched up either.

Stereo

As I mentioned before it also happens in DRAGON AGE ORIGIONS. At times I would fast forward the diaolog or run the game as normal and characters like Alistar or Morrigan or a random person would be speaking in text but not speak through the TV.

P.S. I hope you can find a way to fix this, it completely ruins an otherwise great loyalty mission.

I forgot to add a specific part in Dragon Age Origions.

When your doing the whole trial with Logain before you send yourself or another character to duel him, the whole audio thing goes dead. I might have some blips like Logain makes and comepletes one sentence but then he craps out dead audio. Also during that part, when a guy says "I support the Grey Warden!" I hear the crowd applaud but not the guy giving the speech.

Hey,

We’re looking into the audio cut-out problem and we need some help from the community. If you are experiencing the problem regularly, please review the questions below and post your answers here. Some of the questions are straight from the guidelines for posting problems, but others are more specific to this issue.

1.       Does the problem happen in a specific location in the game or after a specific sequence of actions?
2.       Are you playing from the hard drive or DVD?
3.       What speaker configuration are you using (stereo or surround)?
4.       Do you experience these problems with any other games on this console?

In order to provide maximum benefit to the programmers looking at this issue, please avoid unnecessary discussion in this thread and posting comments about other problems. If we need more information we’ll either post a general request here or send a PM to specific individuals.

At this point we can’t commit to a particular fix or ETA but we will do our best to keep you updated on our progress.

Thanks for your help.

1. The only time it has happened to me is during Samara loyalty mission when her and Morinth begin the fight sequence. After I make the choice on who to kill the sound returns.

2. I have tried it installed to the HDD (both discs) and playing it from the DVD.

3. I have a surround setup with my Xbox connected to my A/V receiver using HDMI.

4. I have not experience any other sound cutouts on any other game.

It happens to me whenever an enemy rocket launcher goes off nearby.

I am playing the game from the hard drive, and whichever is the default audio setting is the one I'm using, and this is the only game it happens with.
