TRILARIAN: Name the games that allow you to save off to a stick? 90%? I don't think so. Yes Sony is extremely proprietary with its game formats, hence it's winning the console war of late (and hence the Air Force is using it's chip to string together for AI purposes, not anything Intel except for administrative desktops which are an extreme security hazard. There's not many security leaks (memory or otherwise with PS3 products) and hence the countless patches that have to be made for Windows and kid cousin Xbox). I'll take a solid PS3 game any day to a leaky Xbox / Windows do-all.
I'd say it is MUCH easier to list the games that have save locks than those that do not. Wikipedia (for what it is worth) list a total of 509 titles for the PS3. Searching for a list of save-locked games I get this. That is a total of 49 games (50 if you count the online-ONLY portion of DMC4, single player campaign is unlocked).
So some simple math for you... 509 / 49 ~~ 9.62% - hence my roughly 90%. Check your facts before you make false accusations.

I think it's a great idea (Sloth is just being contrary because that's what he does). As noted, with the game being the size it is, to lose that much invested time would be a real .
I just like disagreeing with PS3 users. I mean, they already seem to have gotten the DA short straw, so they are easy targets.
All kidding aside, I don't see any reason to impose limitations on PS3 saves, it seems rather pointless. I'm sure bioware will have a fix for PS3 usersthis holiday season, tomorrow, soon, with the xbox fix, when sony approves,it is ready to go nowafter everyone loses interst.
I don't see it ever happening lest Sony wants to become a trashy Windows clone. I don't think it's up to Bioware, it's a Sony PS3 mandate. Plus you're perception is wrong about the DA short straw (or did you mean the short "stick"? Getting the short straw is usually a good thing (depending on what you're casting your lots for)) for PS3 DA'ers. The PS3 is winning the console battle these days and it's because of it's extensive on-board chip.
Drawing the short straw can be positive or negative, depending on the circumstances of the straw drawing.
And while the PS3 may be gaining ground on the xbox, we're still behind as far as Dragon Age is concerned. While PC and xbox already have patches/title updates, we're finally getting our first on Thursday, and we don't get RTO until next Thursday, which they've both had for a month as well.
Oh, as for the original post... I agree.
I already addressed that by qualifying: "(depending on what you're casting your lots for)" so your attempt is too late.
Whether you agree or not, there's mandates to protect software by Sony so it'll probably never happen (they don't do it with other games).
My... attempt? It was just a comment.
You're a hostile little fella, huh?

Nothing I said was hostile. If you perceived it as so I apologize. If I was hostile then you better take another look at this "Sloth's" words (I won't wast any words recanting his theatrics due to his thought that he was losing face). I was just defending myself against the hoards without beserking (and that's a feat!). The only hostility is coming from you because you can't FACE THE FACTS.

The reason: Full Backups DO save all save files, even locked ones.
Do a little research.

every month? several ps3's? that sounds a bit Obsessive Compulsive. Is a PS3 that breakable?

10.6 for newer consoles.
Up to 30% for the oldest consoles, after 4 years of use.
Much better than the 360 with WELL OVER 50% failure the first three years.

such a silly thing to argue about, but sloth's explanation about drawing the short straw was correct.AnnaBananaBamBamBoo wrote...

LOL get your head out of the sand contrarian. I'm on the topic when it comes to saving sticks and the PS3 because basically, THAT'S THE ISSUE.
Yes, it is the issue because Windows (and the Xbox) are an open architectured system. Keeping game saves locked keeps it closed. Open architectured systems have a unrealistic goal, do-it-all for every piece of hardware and software out there, impossible (and hence it's "leaky" track record over the years).
Nice try trying to get out of your short "straw" flub. Your attempts to save face are hilarious. You defended short "stick" thinking that's what you said when you said "straw".
good: drawing straws for who gets a free cookie. short straw gets it.
bad: draw straws for who gets thrown to the crocodiles to be eaten. short straw gets it.
or, alternatively, draw straws for what platform gets the shaft. short straw gets it.

Hmm, the original quote is this: "I just like disagreeing with PS3 users. I mean, they already seem to have gotten the DA short straw, so they are easy targets." I don't think he intended short "straw" here. Short straw would mean the PS3 users won, but the last part, "so they are easy targets," pretty much blows your proverbial Titanic out of the water. Short "stick" is what was intended. It was another of his foibles, he denies it (as do his foolhardy cohorts) and therefore is a definition of insanity (not able to admit an error and believing a lie). If you choose to argue his side toward insanity, feel free, I really don't care.

forgive my limited knowledge of the ps3, but does the ps3 have memory cards like the xbox 360 and older playstations did? if so, could you not back up your saves onto a memory card? or is the ps3 strictly an internal hard drive?
I don't know if the older PS3's had memory card slots or not, but my PS3 slim does not. It's an internal HD, and has USB slots that you can use USB drives with.

Do a little research.
All locked saves do not transfer on a backup. I first learned this trying to restore from a backup and lost my saved game for Demon Souls. As I stated in my post on the PS3 forum, the full restore did not work for DA:O. The backup restored my files, but DA did not have the save data. Doing a little research, here is the official backup information (take notice to *1):
- Saved data from PLAYSTATION®3 format software *1
- Image files under (Photo)
- Music files under (Music) *2
- Video files under (Video) *2
- Bookmarks added under (Internet Browser)

You know, I've been posting on various message boards for years, including some with pretty hostile environments, and this has to be the first time I've seen someone respond to a double post as though it were an argument. Amazing.
You have? Doesn't show.
Actually if there's a double-post people usually go back to the original post, that's basic message-boarding 101. If you need to be lead by the hand to find the original post, I can do that for you but you've been doing this for years! LOL
Keep trying, you're doing nothing but exasperating the hostile environment.

This is fun reading all the idiocracy here. I'm fine, you're the one who needs to chill out. And I'll keep it up as long as I need to. Keep trying though, you'll keep getting burned. People like you are keeping it off the topic.

Another message-board-101'er (or is it pre-school).
