LOL assume what you want as to why, you'll continue to make a fool of yourself.

Did you just attack someone for double posting?  We seriously need a voteban option.

You woulda been outa here a long time ago saying "I disagree"  Now that was brilliant.  You disagreed then you agreed, another sign of insanity.

/Agree

This is a petition for unlocking DA:O saves so they may be backed up to prevent the horrid case of a unit failure and subsequent loss of hundreds of hours of data.

This is not AnnaBananaBamBamBoo's kindergarden level sandbox to insult and harrass in a childish attempt to illicit attention.

I’ve run full backups on several PS3s for HDD changes. I also run full backups once a month.

The reason: Full Backups DO save all save files, even locked ones.

Do a little research.

All locked saves do not transfer on a backup.  I first learned this trying to restore from a backup and lost my saved game for Demon Souls.  As I stated in my post on the PS3 forum, the full restore did not work for DA:O.  The backup restored my files, but DA did not have the save data.  Doing a little research, here is the official backup information (take notice to *1):

  • Saved data from PLAYSTATION®3 format software *1
  • Image files under (Photo)
  • Music files under (Music) *2
  • Video files under (Video) *2
  • Bookmarks added under (Internet Browser)
  • Terms that were added using (Settings) > (System Settings) >
[Add/Edit Term], or predictive terms that were “learned” by the
    on-screen keyboard
*1 Copy-protected data cannot be restored. Also, saved data that has been restored may not be usable in some games.

*2 Does not include copyright-protected data.

Again another sign of highly proprietary data.  As I said before I don't think it's Bioware because they've NOT protected their save files before.  Use some deduction.  If you want to take this offline I can show you how.

A double post is a pointer to the original post (and a mistake by the author), if you can't get that then all of you need to take a Message Board 101 seminar (not class, I think you need a seminar).

The red dot above every post is the option to report the post, enough folks report the same poster and that poster is prevented from further posting.

And what are you going to report about the posts? That I've used profanity? NOT, a lot of you are coming very close to it so YOU're the ones needing the red dot. And what else, for not staying on the subject? The only ones off the subject are those trying to provoke me and failing miserably (or are you going to deny me the right to defend myself?) so they get upset about that and feel they have to retaliate and therefore pile-on. The hostility is coming from you, I'm fine.

Again, Sony OFFERS the option of save locking, not demands it.  EA/Bioware has decided to lock their saves.  Deduction would tell you that save lock is not the default if over 90% of the games out there do not use it.  It was EA/Bioware's decision, and a poor one at that (which I hope they will change), not a super secret ninja update Sony did to block all game saves.  The 'default' (for 90%+ of games) save game proceedure is I hit triangle, copy, and send to my USB stick.  Almost all of my games backup/restore just fine this way.

The only thing proprietary in the save system is the file system used on the HDD itself.  However, if the developer does not lock the save game - you can output to any USB device.

At any rate, I'm done with you as it seems basic logic illudes you.  If anyone else would like to discuss the original topic I posted I'll be around from time to time.

I think you meant elude, not illude(??? what's that???). Am I right? Using a misspelled word kinda takes the bite out of your attack.

Again, this thread should definately be in the Tech section, so it's all superfluous but since you don't know how to use message boards it's quite understandable that you'd post a tech question in the general discussion forum.

I think it's a great idea (Sloth is just being contrary because that's what he does :P ). As noted, with the game being the size it is, to lose that much invested time would be a real .

I just like disagreeing with PS3 users.  I mean, they already seem to have gotten the DA short straw, so they are easy targets. :P

And for the record, there was no question. This is a petition to change a general game function.

You know, I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've reported a person or post, but I think this case merits it. His antics are amusing in a way, but... still.

LOL keep trying, you're attempts to provoke ARE the amusing part of this whole thread.  And when all else fails you turn to cute little red dot that probably looks like a little dancing devil to you given your OCD tendencies bent on revenge and oneupmanship and the amount of hours you spent staring at it hoping it will relieve you of your inadequacies and lack of message board experience.

Stay with the subject and quit attacking me or I'll red dot YOU.

I have a solution and if you could read with an objective eye you would have caught that I offered it above but the original poster doesn't know where to post tech questions nor take reproof, he's beyond irreconcilable. If he knew how to deduce the reason why Bioware doesn't answer his questions there is simply because they can't offer unlocked saves but can't discuss it there because of it's extremely proprietary nature (due to Sony not Bioware), then as I said above, this thread is superfluous.

Your attempts at attacking me are amusing, especially given your "experience" on message boards. Self-proclaimed experience just doesn't cut it, you gotta show it.

Good for you, you have an unabridged dictionary where just about any word and any spelling is allowed (but not a sanctioned word in any normal dictionary).   It's archaic, no one spells it that way anymore, how old are you?

Now to address the subject (and you should too instead of attacking me (yes, attack, what were you using the word elude for?) of which I've successfully defended everytime of which frustrates you so you continue to attempt to attack and consequently make it worse):  like I said, get millions of names on the petition, it won't matter because of reasons previously stated above OF WHICH I won't waste my time reiterating here.

I know I shouldn't feed the troll, but "illude" and "elude" are two different words with different meanings.

Also, you are critisizing for double-posting on a message board that commonly double-posts messages. It's the site, not the person. If it bothers you that much, take it up with the webmaster.

Oh, and you used the word "you're" when you should have used "your" in a previous post. ("You are attempts"?)

...Feels like I'm on 4chan here.

bananaramabofamakjsrhfidsdnfnodfj is going to the extreme to display his/her arrogance to everyone. not only insulting the op for not agreeing wholeheartedly, but also insulting anyone with a different opinion. then, on top of it, insults someone's word usage in a forum with many who either speak english as a second language or come from a country with different dialects and word usage. the sad part is your own poor word usage, banablahblahblahblahblah. stop being such an elitist, especially over something like how to use a message board.

So am I.  It's a shame that this got off track, it's a worthy topic.   Hell, I even started a real petition for it.

I agree that it's a worthy topic, unfortunately however it's hard to really have a discussion about it.  With one notable exception, most people are just going to /agree.  Actually, the disagreement isn't so bad as the way it has been carried out... anyway.

Seriously guys, you are all being extremely hypocritical.  You call him out for insulting others, honestly?  Take a look at your posts as well.

then, on top of it, insults someone's word usage in a forum with many who either speak english as a second language or come from a country with different dialects and word usage.

The fact is, he was being insulted for his supposed lack of intelligence.  When you do that, you better damn well make sure you don't look like a 4th grader, when you form that phonetic spelling of a common word.

Let's keep the name-calling, insults, and off-topic semantics arguments out of the discussion, please.

And AnnaBananaBamBamBoo, I am going to have to agree with some of the others here who are requesting that you please calm down and moderate your tone. Your hostile and defensive tone are not welcome, and are making your comments personal. I would prefer y'all work things out among yourselves (agreeing to disagree is never a bad idea) rather than start banning people.

I would like to ask everyone to drop the gloves and return to your respective corners, take a few breaths. In the interests of keeping this discussion active, which I assume y'all want, and retaining your posting privileges, which I assume y'all want, let's try and be excellent to each other. Thank you.

This has nothing to do with Sony.  It's a developer decision.  Atlus locks their saves, Infinity Ward does not.  Ubisoft locked their saves with RSV2, Naughty Dog did not with Uncharted.  Harmonix locks their saves, Insomniac does not.  I can see it being done for online games with leaderboards, but for Bioware(Or Atlus with Demon's Souls) to do this with a single player game makes no sense.
