Then the question becomes: Why RtO and not the rest?

It makes sense why a certain gift item was found there now, doesn't it?

Because RTO hasn't come out yet on PS3, so they're giving an incentive to get PS3 players to buy it two days before Awakening?  Posted Image

I kid. This is good news, though.

Why not the Stone Prisoner DLC and the preorder bonuses? Or warden's keep for that matter?  :/

It just seems that it would be a trivial thing to do?

I'm hopeful for the rest of the DLC migrating over, however, I'm still not spending my money until it becomes a reality.

Are they still working on getting the other DLC to work?

Hm.... I wonder if Blood Dragon Armor, Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner, Promotional DLC, and Journey DLC all come over too. I wonder if RTO's items import because other awakening characters wear them :P

Theres no need to call them lazy, just be happy that we can even import items at all.

I paid for all the DLC's so I can't bring myself to even be mildly disgruntled let alone happy. Im all out pissed about the whole damn "expansion" Im trying to stay excited enough to blow $39 on an expansion that trashes the story that i played out, but Im rapidly losing all desire to buy it.   :crying:

I don't think they'll trash the story at all. A lot of love went into making DA:O, and the writers (Maker preserve them) aren't going to destroy their baby like that. The DLC items wouldn't import properly, for whatever reason, and they thought that their time was better spent making Awakening all that it could be instead of letting you keep those items they intended to replace after 20 minutes of Awakening time anyway. My guess is, after watching the community **** about RTO loot not being carried over, that they decided to work on getting those particular items into the expac so everyone who hasn't yet bought RtO (the PS3 players) would still have a reason to get it, even though it's coming out less than a week before awakening. Honestly, we're lucky we get that much. I just hope we don't lose out on the quality of Awakening for the sake of Cailan's Armor.

I adore the story from Dragon Age, and I have faith that the writers can and have done justice to the world and the story in Awakening.

I for one am ecstatic that RtO items are being imported, I didn't have them for very long, wheras the Soldiers Peak and the Stone prisoner items were with me for an long time, and will accept their passing.

One of my Human Noble characters became Anora's king-consort and donned Cailans arms and armour all upgraded to their dragonbone forms, because I acquired them just before the Landsmeet quest. I thought it only fitting he entered the story looking as kingly as possible. That is, if he remains such when he enters Awakening.
Otherwise, Fantastic news, thank you Bioware!!    :D

Thanks for the update, Victor! Great news!

If you now manage to make the Warden's Keep and Stone Prisoner items available, I forget the pain that the comrades and lovers who (regarding to the epilogue) stay with the Warden (Alistair, Leliana, Zevran) don't accompany him/her in this adventure. ;)

Great news, indeed! I'm SO going to import my AW with Cailan's Arms for its HUGE mana regeneration. I'll be missing out on the +1 reg of wicked oath, I guess, but there are other useful rings in Origins, so I can live with that.

Thanks, BioWare :)

... Now, if you manage to update the other DLC items to make them usable in Awakening as well, I won't excactly be sad. Just saying... ;D

Hmmm, interesting - and welcome! I guess I have to load up my end-game save and stick all the RtO stuff in my character's inventory now. That said, I will assume that RtO was coded differently from the initial-release DLC, which made porting equipment over less of an issue.

WOW! You made me look up that at the wiki and I saw the first time, that there is a set bonus of +5 regen. That is huuuuuuge! Sad I didn't see that earlier.
Well, Duncan's Sword + Fade Wall (+3 regen, +25 stamina, +3 willpower) isn't bad also. ;)

Again though as GBurnette said, my character also has most of his equipment made out of DLC.

Will we start Awakening stark naked or something?

"There are better items" i think this reason is make sense, why do care about those items, there will be a lot more, i'm sure.

and If it take so much time to bring those back, i understand that.

Spend the time to other stuff, make it more perfect. :D instead

good news about RtO anyways.

Well, there was one post where they claimed the reason was that we would find better gear in Awakening. Of course, it was pointed out that that doesn't really qualify as a reason.

Let's be accurate when repeating what we said :)

The main reason is that importing some of the DLC turned out to be a tricky development problem. Knowing you'd be receiving better items, the team chose to put resources toward improving gameplay and polish for the game rather than importing items that you're not likely to keep.

But now for a thread exclusive announcement (well, it won't be exclusive for long. I am going to update the Awakening Q&A after this): I learned today that items from Return to Ostagar will import. So, at the very least you can bring Cailan's armor and Duncan's Dagger over. That's not shabby gear either.

Thanks for the update, Victor.

I hope that the team will try to put a patch towards importing other DLC gear in the future (Warden Commander Armor FTW), but I understand if that's problematic. Even if you won't do it, I'm sure lots of other modders out there are up to the task; I can't imagine it's hard to simply strip the items out and place them into a chest beside the starting area, with the same name and statistics as the old items (if you wanted to get really fancy with it, Wade and Herren could upgrade the DLC gear. Re-enchanted Starfang FTW).

Kudos to all of your hard work.

This is accurate as the reason the community manager initially gave, before the QA thread was published.  It was repeated by him some time after as well.  If you want to know why this confusion exists, look no further.

That said, I'm glad to hear RtO was not afflicted by whatever malady affects the rest.  Hopefully that will aid patching in the rest of the gear.  I look forward to purchasing Awakenings once that is done :)

Perhaps they will be shelved.  I'd like the option anyway.

Number of Slots depend on the item tier. Only t7 items have 3 slots. Since the RtO items are scaled, that explains why different people get different numbers of slots.
