Honestly, it would let us see content that is currently impossible to see via normal gameplay for a minimum of work, no real downside.

I have already completed the 'mod' for the PC, Shepard. Two weeks ago. I made it specifically because of those who claimed that doing so would be extremely difficult for BioWare to implement or because the option does not exist.Mallissin wrote...
How is Jack a Renegade option? Her loyalty mission involves you helping her resolve her past. She was tortured and drugged, led the horrid life on the run that made her associate with criminals. If anything, she's a Paragon option not Renegade. If you're just looking at personality, then you have the shallow opinion I'd expect from an AI.
Meanwhile, Thane and Samara are unapologetic cold-blooded killers. How are they not Renegade options?
Stop applying Renegade or Paragon to team members. All of them are equally balanced to be neither.
If you want to play the game your way, make the mod and do it. Don't expect Bioware to help.

It requires a series of simple hex edits in the save file -- emphasis on the word simple. The ability to recruit all squadmates is already in the game and is almost glitch free.
It is unfair that console users do not receive the option to do this. This mode should be available for anyone who wishes to play Mass Effect 2.

The game's story should not be dictated by the amount of space on a console disc.
I agree it seems that the "flow" of the recruiting missions was subject to change according to technical restrictions. But i don't agree to "should not be dictated by the amount of space..." Games are not free art and that is a good thing. They are embedded in social, economical and artistic structures at the same time and that makes games a very interesting thing. Sometimes it breaks them, sometimes it makes them pure genius, but as that's all part of it.
Especially the creativity that is required to not let the player feel the technical limitations of his/her hardware always propelled game development to new hights.
well... soapbox modus: off
I think the recruiting in two waves works fine. But after some playthroughs it would really be cool to mix up the sequence. Therefore i support the patch thingy... at least for PC if there's no way for consoles to have it.

The reason they spaced things out was to make it easy on console users swapping discs. You want to reverse it and push the problem Bioware tried to alleivate back onto console users.
Seems more sadistic than helpful.
Why don't you talk to Gibbed about including your save game alterations to his save editor and call it a day.

I don't *expect* them to do anything, I was simply saying if they felt inclined to make one, I would support it. Saying "This would be neat, yeah." doesn't equate to "DO IT NAO!" I'm fine without it. I'd be fine with it. And to whoever earlier said something about breaking your install: that's why you back up the original Coalesed file. Everyone knows if you're gonna go tooling with things you make backups. Backup saves when you start playing with those, back up inis when you start messing with *those*. I used to mess around with Morrowind quite a bit, back ups were your friend. Same deal here.

Full understanding of this option requires re-reading of the main topic. Everyone will download the patch; however, the default option is the current mission style implemented now.Mallissin wrote...

Allowing any squadmate to be recruited requires two things:
1. Completion of the game, which opens up a new Gameplay option
2. Switching that option from High to Low
Therefore, anyone who does not want to be inconvenienced may simply ignore it and play normally.

It would be neat if some modders got together to restore the game so it would work like the patch(if Bioware chooses not to). They could be Team Pyjack and we could wait 6 years for them to do it!
I'm assuming this is a reference to those Team Gizka people that were going to fix KOTOR2.Then when Team Pyjack disappears some other dudes will do it in 6 months and release it. Good times!
Does this mean someone else finally fixed KOTOR2's ending? That'd be sweeeet.
Hehe yes

Well, console users have some valid issues, because the Xbox's disc verification system requires the disk to be in there for the game to run unless it's one of the games that you can download off of Xbox Live. It's be nice for Microsoft to release a patch to let ME2 players just copy the game to the HDD, stick one disk in, and play through, but I doubt it. Then again, MS is letting people use external USB drives up to 16GB to store data soon (source:http://www.joystiq.c...in-2010-update/), so maybe MS is willing to negoitate on that front. Then the only things that need to be done are making the patch and having players with lower capacity HDDs get more space to store the game- it won't fit on a 20GB drive.cronshaw8 wrote...
I'm not sure why anyone would be against this option. Most of the objections sound like nothing more than sour grapes to me.

As explained by the OP the download would allow for the option to play the game as released or with recruitment flexiblility. If you don't like switching discs, don't. Anyone who objects to that is just pissed the Xbox isn't allowing for as seamless a playing experince, and wants everyone who plays the game to be as pissed as they are: sour grapes.

Wait, so that would mean we could copy our ME2 saves to a USB drive, plug it into a PC, make the HEX edits, and problem solved! Uh, theoretically...

Right now I am attempting to learn how to edit the game to allow early recruitment of great characters like legion, and although I will be able to pull it off I shouldnt have to try this in the first place.
And dont start with the "just play the game how it was supposed" to crap because a character like legion has dialouge in many missions where he is not supposed to.

Throw this in with the option to delay installing/activating the Reaper IFF until whenever (Just add in an extra option on your private terminal). Easy.
I've got 40+ GB on my Xbox360 I need to kill, and I'm fine with disk swapping too.

Sadly I doubt we will see an official patch, although there should. They shouldn't punish PC gamers because of a console's limitation.
EDIT: Oh wtf, I did already post in this one with the exact same comment. Hooray.

You can install ME2 to the hard drive of your xbox. I am a PC gamer, however I also have ME2 for the xbox. When i insert the disc, it gives me the option to install to the hard drive for both disc's. Which i did.
I would definitely support this mod. I would love to recruit in any order.
