Ok, having noticed all the fan threads for individual characters, whether from ME1 or 2, I have to wonder: who really wants new squad members in ME3? Or would you rather just have a mix of the cast from ME1 and 2?

Obviously introducing new characters helps keep a story fresh, but keeping familiar faces keeps you immersed in the story and provides continuity. This is also, as best I know, the last installment of Shepard's story and possibly the last time we'll see any of these characters.

So, would you rather they introduced new characters, or kept old ones and continued developing them?

Yes, I know there was this thing called a suicide mission. Work with me. Who do you want to survive, and who do you want to keep? Who's worth throwing out for new faces? Is anyone?

I think it'd be interesting if BW used mostly ME1/ME2 squad members, with few new characters. They've introduced too many good characters to not continue developing them, imo. This would require rejecting a lot of possible outcomes for the suicide mission, but I'm fine with that.

Keep the old. Leaves more room for the over all story.

I would like to see some from ME1... ie... the love interest from ME1 if there was one. Otherwise I would like to see a mix of characters from ME 1 & 2 plus a few new.

No new squadmates, thank you very much.
Only old ones. Maybe one or two new ones...but really. I don't want any new faces. I want Bioware to actually create a continuous storyline, and develop characters.

Mix of ME1 and ME2. There are more than enough characters now, we don't need new ones. BW should focus on developing what they have further instead of throwing new squadmates at us in the final part of the trilogy.  If they just toss the old characters aside again then it basically invalidates a major portion of ME2.

Whats the point of recruiting the best and most dangerous in the galaxy if they do not stay for the main threat? I don't need those types of people to handle the collectors, I need those types of people to handle the Reapers.

You have a few who are too used to the standard formula of RPG's that they can't see any other way but to have you restart from scratch with no one. Then you have those Laira and Virmire fans who are angsting so much over the part that thier favs played that they want everyone else to be treated like they percieved they were. From what I read that seems to make up the most of those who want new squads. Otherwise I think most people see a few new ones but mostly a returning squad.

I would love to see new characters...as well as some old ones.

The more new squadmates they bring in, the less likely we are to see the old ones.

So no, I wouldn't like any new squadmates, for that reason.

My vote would be for no new characters. I say they let you choose a squad from all of the characters from ME 1 and 2 (as long as they didn't die during your playthrough).

There was a poll not too long ago with like 600 votes and literally it was around 95% wanted to keep our current squadmembers.

I'd rather keep the old ones, BRING BACK ASH/KAIDAN/LIARA, and maybe even 2 or 3 new ones.

I've said before, I support the idea of only having ME1 and ME2 characters in ME3.  However, there are going to be people who have had playthroughs similar to the guy actively aiming for the worst possible playthrough, and have only four possible squadmates left alive.  Now, I suppose BioWare could punish the folks who did that badly by only giving them four options for squadmates, but I think they'd probably add 2-4 new characters, just to make sure those folks have a good selection.

Mix of ME1 and ME2 faves for me, as squadmates when possible, interactive NPC's otherwise. I figure if Cerberus already "scoured" the galaxy to give you dossiers on the "best" operatives, there can't be that many good candidates left out there... So bring back the surviving squaddies, please.

I'd say bring all the old ones back, and only add 2-4 new ones.

The only reason I do not mind the some what lack main story plot in ME2 so much is because I see that game going-

ME1-Find out about the threat

ME2-build your army to fight the threat

ME3-Army fights the threat

So if in ME3 we have to get again a bunch of new people then the whole building a army thing was a waste of time and that means ME2 is a waste of time at least as far as the story goes.

That's fine with me, just make sure I have access to all my squadies who didn't die. There needs to be a reward for keeping everyone alive and loyal!

The only problem with ME2 squad mates is that any combination of them could die. It will be tough to implement them as squad mates without skimping on their character development in ME3.

More than likely what will happen is some of your current crew like Mordin will be retired (he is old afterall, by salarian standards) and we'll get a chance to pickup some new squadmates. I'm a fan of Aria from Omega myself.

Liara, Kaiden/Ash just aren't interesting to me anymore especially how they've changed so dramatically in ME2. I would welcome Wrex back but he's too busy uniting the Krogan to help :x

I think they could retire Wrex since you have Grunt. Keep the rest though.

The thing that makes me optimistic that a majority, if not all of, the ME2 squadmates will be back in ME3 was finding out that, in order for Shepard to survive, at least two of his squadmates MUST live.  So, that leaves the potential for every character to be alive and loyal to Shepard, no matter how poorly you played.  At the very least, I'm sure we'll see them back, and I hope that as many of them possible don't get Wrex-style cameos, and actually participate in the mission.

I think Wrex will help with a Krogan army against the reapers in ME3 if you kept him alive of course. Wrex's replacment is happy to be leader but in general the krogan do not like you as much as if Wrex is alive.

Like I said in my other post I think ME2 is all about building army. Even on another side with legion with his story and the geth quarian war that Shep gives imput if it should happen or not  since that is another 2 armies to help out depending on outcome.
