Jeniffer Hale: It wassss a fantassstic ecksssperienssse voisssing femssshep.
Of course the immature haters have to turn up sooner or later.
Sorry you're so jealous.
And pretty soon you're going to start bashing Mark Meer. We've all heard this before.
I don't bash, I make legitimate criticisms, and I'm not going to in this thread, as it's not about that.
what the hell s wrong with mark meer

I often wonder how much the voice actors are even into videogames. Do they even play? Is this just a job for them? Is it weird to play a game and hear your own voice talking as another person?
From what I've read, Jennifer Hale isn't much into video games at all. However, Mark Meer is a bit of a gamer. I think he said he pretty much played all the Bioware games he's had a voice role in.

Grunt hardly has no love. Every character has love even Jacob. There are just different levels of love (the Tali thread has crossed the threshold onto insanity).
Grunt was alas walking in the sizable footsteps of Wrex... never had a chance, poor lil' thing

Check out his fan thread. people should stop comparing him to Wrex and see him as a character in his own right instead of a replacement.

Cool. This is good to know. Hadn't read that.
I guess in my head I always hope that my favorite voice actors are as into games as me. Especially when it comes to games you really love, like Mass Effect. The VAs are a part of the experience, a part of why you love it.
Most of the time that's not true though. It is just work for them. Cool to hear Meer does play, though.

I know a lot of people don't like Meer, but I think he does a good job most of the time. There are a few Paragon lines, especially in a few of the more 'tender' moments that sound a little awkward; part of that is the writing, though, and there are also a lot of gems. Plus, he delivers the Renegade stuff very well. I could never play Renegade, it makes me feel like an a-hole, but watching that "Commander Shepard is such a Jerk" video on YouTube makes me crack up every time
The thing with Grunt is that the character really doesn't get much love, not because of any problem with Blum's voice acting, but because the character just is really not that deep. I mean, I get the whole "born yesterday" idea -- he is child-like and is on a search for his identity, which is fine. The problem is that his identity really just turns out to be "I'm a Krogan and I like killing stuff".

if the voice actors came on to this forum and looked around what do you think they would say
i cant help but laugh at the thought of the voice actresses for tali being freaked out buy the huge
tali thread of doom
and grunt just going "awww no love for grunt"
Grunt's voiced by Steve Blum, a fairly prolific voice actor (he did Spike in the dub of Cowboy Bebop), so I think he won't mind having a role that fell flat once in a while.
As for the rest, I dunno. But if Jennifer Hale is reading, I'm a HUGE fan!
Spike, the Laughing Man, Orochimaru, Todoh, Wolverine plus a bucket load of others!!! and last but not least the best FFVIII character ever! Vincent Valentine!
Jennifer Hale did Naomi Hunters voice....
Is this a bad time to tell you that i've met Steve Blum?
And he is in fact, amazing. And quite charming too

A good actor does not a good voice actor make, don't get me wrong he's a good actor but I feel there were some other gems in this game.
Though I can't stand his character and the way he was presented, so that might be part of why I'm not a huge fan of his performance here.

About the only voice actor I've ever seen actively participate in a forum was the guy who did Lucien Lachance (and about 12 billion other voices in Oblivion and Fallout 3) over on the Bethesda forums.
Nice guy, seemed to take the mockery (and hey there always is) in his stride.

haha "turducken" is his username. He's the one that started the "Fawkes is a lady" rumor that just won't die.

Agree 100% on your first point. I'm a big Hale fan here, but anyone capable of forming a logical opinion without being blinded by fanboyism can see that Femshep is definitely one of her low points.
Now I enjoyed Sheen's performance, but he's hardly the best in the game. When you have Michael Beattie (Mordin), Steve Blum (Grunt and a sh*tload of others, seriously he's everywhere in this), Liz Sroka (Tali

(Self-abridged)
Well, I haven't heard much of Meer's work this game, so I couldn't evaluate it overall, but there was a post or two with MaleShep vs. FemShep in the same scene, allegedly to 'prove' how Meer was superior, and I just didn't see it. At least, it wasn't as obvious as everyone says. I'm not blinded by fangirlism, though, I just have a different opinion. (Though even I will attest to the fact that FemShep was a bit flatter in tone in a lot of places. I wonder if this could be attributed to that director everyone is crediting with Yvonne Strahovski's 'performance', which barely qualifies for the name outside of her loyalty quest....)
