Justifying justification

Seriously, though...does anyone need to be "justified?" It's called willing suspension of disbelief.
If all your potential companions were fine, upstanding citizens with plain, uncheckered pasts, how boring would that be?
Personally I find the juxtaposition of Leliana's "girliness" with her former profession really compelling. Same goes for Zevran's personality and his profession. As for Sten, well the desire for redemption is always a pretty powerful plot device. Dog is a dog. Schmooples is a future dinner.

Just glad someone else did it
But I hope you didn't take most of them seriously. Dog and Schmooples were both joke threads. The Leliana one was simply a reply to the Zevran one.
Sten was ment seriously, but the rp discussion about Sten has been ongoing, it only recieved a flashier name.
In reality there is one Justification thread (Zevran) which had been ment seriously, the rest have just been the forum's way of reacting to it without actual flaming.

On the plus side, the added reading and writing can add proficiency to typing and language skills in some (not all) cases.
On the con side, if you are responding to threads like this at work, chances are your actions are being logged by your IT department and will result in 'conversations' come time for your reviews.

No, I didn't take the Dog or Schmooples ones seriously, lol. In fact I almost made the "justifying dog" one myself, just for laughs.melkathi wrote...

The Leliana one, though it may have been meant as a reply, I think is at least as, well...justified...as the Zevran or Sten ones. All three characters do have these pretty shocking things from their pasts, and I could see why someone would wonder why they would be accepted. But as I said before, these things make the characters interesting, and in Leliana's case, hot.

Just going to throw this out there in regards to the "He's/She's a murderer!" argument for Sten, Zev, and leliana...By the time you're out of the Origin and reach Orzammar, how many people have you killed?
Dwarf Commoner: First an assassination, and then I'd say 12-20 henchmen on your way out of the prison.
Dwarf Noble: ....not sure, most of their combat was against Darkspawn if memory serves, its been a while though.
Human Noble: At least 20+ soldiers are dead by your hand, mind you its in defense of your home, but dead is dead.
City Elf: Vaughn....nuff said.
Dalish Elf: You have the option of shooting down 3 unarmed men at the start of the story. So this one has perhaps the lowest of bodycounts except for...
Mage: Assuming the guards in the basement are not actually human (I assume automations of some kind despite the blood). You actually get out with no loss of human, dwarf, or elf life. Spiders, spirits, demons, and dragonlings dont count. You did let a blood mage loose though, lucky for you Jowan is a complete wuss.
Just saying, throwing stones and glass houses, ya know?

Not to change the subject... but I'm going to anyway...
So yeah? What's up with the mage origin? I saw the blood too and was thinking... oh man.. what did I just get myself into??? Am I killing Circle guards now, and Irving is going to forgive me because I'm doing my duty????
Eh?? Poor slobs........
so... I just 'pretended' they were automations...... even if they weren't.

Well the first time you see them, you just walked into a room, tried to access the phylactery vault, walked up to a second door and burned a hole in the lock. All this in an area you arent suppossed to be in. Only after that does the guard, who is less than 10ft away the whole time, move which you are all very surprised at.
If those guards arent automations then they seriously need better guards or better coffee.

Well personally, I recruited them all. Like I said, it made them interesting. I was just saying I could understand why some people might be a little put off by them.guytza wrote...

And also, I played a City Elf, and I don't think killing Vaughn was the same thing as, say, Sten's murdering of an entire family. After what he did to Shianni, he's lucky he got away with just being killed. But no one's calling anyone out for killing someone in self-defense or revenge, or just for body count. It's the manner in which they did it and/or their feelings (or lack thereof) of the act(s) in retrospect.
But again...I recruited them all.

How about this instead:
Theory of justification is a part of epistemology that attempts to understand the justification of propositions and beliefs.
If A makes a claim, and B then casts doubt on it, A's next move would normally be to provide justification
