Here's a post from Mike Laidlaw (Leader Designer for Dragon Age):
Ah, yes.
If you blow past a certain part of Leli's dialog, you can miss her talking about Bards and Orlais. There is a way to get it back, and keep the romance, though, and since I seem to see a few people in that spot, let me be your guide!
Note that this only works in the case where Leliana cares for you, but you have not heard her talk about a woman named Marjolaine. I won't spoil it more than that. And will try to keep the steps low-spoiler.
1) Sadly, you need to break up with her. Let her down easy, don't make her angry enough to leave the party.
2) This should open up the player option: "I hear, sometimes, in Orlais the minstrels are spies."
3) If her approval is still high, later on returning to the camp she will open with "I lied to you, you know...?"
4) Travel with her in your party. You will eventually be ambushed in something related to her.
5) Follow the lead to Denerim. Resolve!
6) Talk in camp, and work through her reactions. Eventually you'll see the player option: "Are you feeling any better about Marjolaine?"
7) There, you want to note that "she was special to you, wasn't she?" 8) If you follow that up with "I hope one day I can be that special to you...."
Well, you'll see.

Just wondering, in step 6 how many reactions are there? I've talked to her right after finishing the personal quest and then got her dialogue thanking me for consuelling her. Did I screw up there or does the Are you feeling better...line come later?

If I understood correctly, I don't have a chance to roll the relation back to the point, when I had the option about asking her about these spies, right?
If so, did I miss a lot? I mean, I have the romance for a very long time now.
Perhaps I had the said fight but simply forgot it

Got that on my first playthrough, where the romance with her kept going forward in spite of my rejecting her for Morrigan

Yes, darn good work on that. I'm addicted to that scene, I often load to hear her sing. A friend of mine says he hasn't sung for her, even though he's done with the elves. I don't know how much she likes him though.

When you first go back to camp, you can ask her about "what happened today" which is your finishing the quest. Leave camp and return and she should have the "are you feeling better" option.
As a side note, you can start the relationship before you do this quest, meaning you can kiss her and tell her how you feel, but the sleeping with her doesn't happen until the mid-90's approval level. The sidequest may not even be necessary, but it certainly helps getting her approval up.

Yes, though I wasn't romancing her. She just started singing right out of the blue. Very pretty, though.

Yes, that was quiet a wonderful little gift, really well done and quite lovely. I actually kept the song book in my inventory almost all the way through my first run through because I thought maybe it would mean she'd sing another for me later, or maybe she'd have a new song for every attained bard level, lol.

For leliana :
-once your appreciation is high enough, she will talk you about marjolaine
-random encounter : assassin sent by marjolaine
-do her quest
-once marjolaine is dead, and once she ask you if she is a good or a bad person, she will talk about marjolaine. Say "she was special for you". Then "i hope i will be special for you". Watch your step, there is other "kind" choices which do not lead to romance, such as "im here if you want to talk".
If you have someone else "adore " you, she will ask you to make a choice. If you miss the "she was special" line, it's over. You will never be able to romance her.

If you finish the Marjolaine personal quest, talk to Leliana. She’ll say something like, “I know that look—you have something on your mind don’t you?” Respond with the following dialogue choices:
“We need to talk.”
“Are you feeling better?”
“Er, I think I see what you mean.”
“She was special to you wasn’t she?”
“I’m sorry it ended so badly.”
“Everyone changes unfortunately.”
“I can only hope to one day be as special as she was to you.”
Romance will be started.
If you’re looking to seduce Leliana, you have to be in a romance with her and she has to be in love with you, which means you have to have your approval at 100. Talk to her in camp. If she gives you the line, “It has been some time since I left Lothering. When I stepped out of the cloister I had no idea where my path would lead.” Keep being nice and eventually she’ll invite you to her tent. This only happens once.

With the number of problems people are having with this romance(me included, but I got my things sorted out), I'm having flashbacks to the Jahiera romance in Baldur's Gate 2.
There are no bugs; there are only people who fail to catch her interest. She was all over my female human noble warior.

First of all, the "I know that look..." line is a generic greeting she says at a specific level of approval. It isn't necessary to start the romance. That whole conversation is not necessary to start the romance, and you certainly don't need to be at 100 approval...
I got the confession of feelings and was able to kiss her at 71 or 72 approval, that was long before I finished her quest. She won't sleep with you until you're in the 90's, but I've triggered it at as low as 94.
Now, the guide is right in that you "can" initiate the romance at that conversation point if you haven't already, but it isn't the first available chance, nor is it the only way.

I'm just afraid to move on now, afraid i wont get the chance if i never get the "how are you feeling" question to ask her.
