Well, let me ask you the normal questions. What is your approval rating? Have you had a conversation with her about when you're both awake at night together watching the camp? You said you got the scene where she asks if you remember your conversation with her, what happens there?

“What was someone like you doing in Lothering’s Chantry?”

“You know, a beautiful charming woman like yourself.”

“Those initiates can’t have been more lovely than you.”

Romance will be started.



And This...



Marjolaine personal quest, talk to Leliana



But i do not get any of this.



“We need to talk.”

“Are you feeling better?”

“Er, I think I see what you mean.”

“She was special to you wasn’t she?”

“I’m sorry it ended so badly.”

“Everyone changes unfortunately.”

“I can only hope to one day be as special as she was to you.”

Romance will be started.



I get a completely different set of responses.

Im not sure what my approval rating is, there is no numbers in the console versions just a bar, i have had no conversation when its just us at night together. ok here is what she says and my choices after i finish her personal quest.

Is that from the strategy guide? Because none of that is necessary to start the romance.
You can trigger it without flirting with her at all. I did this on my male character while I was romancing Morrigan. I was merely "nice" to Leliana, never flirted, never said she was beautiful or charming, never asked if her fruit was forbidden, never did a darn thing to say I was interested and she still came on to me.
Now, if you never got the conversation about her staying up at night with you to keep watch, then you probably need to trigger it through the Marjolaine quest resolution as said. The "exact" responses don't matter, the keys are asking her if she's met anyone as special as she was and hoping if you can one day be as special. Those can trigger it. At some point she should call you a friend and then ask if maybe you could be more than friends.

So don't go by the strategy guide as if it's the only way to go about it.

It doesn't sound like she likes you very much. How high is your approval? How far to the right does the bar look?

its definitely over half. but i also jacked up her aproval through gifts without saving just to try it and i get the same responses.

Well, the bar starts out at half when you get her, which is zero. It should be at least this high for you to even consider her starting a romance.

Ahh so maybe i just shouldn't bother talking to her again until her approval is higher.

what do you do to get it to say her approval number? maybe there is something similar i can do on the PS3 version, numbers would help:P

At the level you see in my screenshot is what's required for her to just say she's attracted to you and let you kiss her. She won't sleep with you at that point. But if your approval isn't even that high after Marjolaine, then you may be in trouble. It could still happen, but you definitely need her to like you more.

I don't know if you can display numbers on the console versions. On the PC you just put your cursor over the bar.

Well i just did her personal quest TIGHT after ostogar, so i am not that far into the game yet, started over 3 times, one time i was already 25 hours into the game:P as long as i have not missed the chance to romance her i will be happy, some people are saying you can say something that cuts that path off completely:P

I am just concerned that i am not getting the option to ask how she is feeling after the whole Marjolaine incident, but like you say, it might be that my approval rating just isn't high enough for that.

It doesn't really matter how far you are in the story at all. I got her to 72 in that screen right after Lothering and one very quick trip to Redcliffe to get her some flowers.

I think she will probably still let you romance her later on once you get your approval up.

where do you get those flowers in redcliffe?

There's a flower called Andraste's Grace right next to the windmill in Redcliffe, it's good for about 15 approval points. Her dialogue changes based on when you give it to her and whether or not she's told you about her mother.



From what it sounds like based on what you said your conversation options are after Marjolaine's quest, it sounds like Leliana simply doesn't trust you or like you enough to talk about her feelings. If your approval is even lower than the level I showed you, then yes, you definitely need to get it higher.

Whenever you want to. I was just saying that if you haven't had her discussion about her mother, the flower will trigger a different dialogue.



Also, if your approval is high enough already, you can even ask for a kiss from her when you give them. If not, then it's still a 13-15 point boost regardless.

Ok great, i guess i am off to get flowers then, as long as i dont have to stick around for the redcliff quest, i want to do the Broken circle first:P thanks for all your help it much appreciated.

Going in to Redcliffe will force the Redcliffe quest up to the battle with the undead. So if you don't want to do that first, don't go.



If you leave Redcliffe immediately after getting the flowers (going anywhere other than your camp) the village will be killed.

I don't think I got it on my secound run through, but just got it again after finishing the Elven part. Sten seems the most touched by it though...realy wish I can get under his skin...lol he's the only one I never can get a decent approval from.
