Leliana romance.

My understanding of the ending text was that you traveled together for awhile and then went on to fight the darkspawn together...I did not get that we broke up or anything. Maybe this will all be concluded in the DA expansion/sequel/DLC/the Leliana Chronicles flashgame/whatever.

I fell in love with Leliana when she did her singing. Alas, I couldn't get the romance even though my approval was above 70. Course, it may have been because I was bumping Morrigan... and Zevran... or because she's a lesbian.
Yes, I'm going to with because she's a lesbian.
I'm shooting for the threesome next time as a dwarf

She doesn't give the option to romance her, all I keep getting is "You were a traveling minstrel, got any tales to share..." something like that. What gives?
Was this because I did the "deed" with Zevran first? But I already dumped that fool once I got the achievement. This really blows, bad enough I gotta re-roll another female toon to sleep with Alistair because I'm in the point of the game where he's a freakin king now *sigh* HALP

I just finished her quest, didn't kill Marjolaine. Affection is maxed, gave her Andraste's grace etc.

It is mostly in the talk after doing Marjolaine's quest I think. It doesn't matter much if you killed her or not or having another romance at the time. I was friendly towards Leliana the whole game, and made the 'mistake' to say something about Marjolaine (like 'she was special to you, wasn't she'). That triggered her to say that I'm special to her and Alistair jealous. Heh. The only point really is that you can trigger the romance after Marjolaine's quest if you didn't before (with high enough approval).
On a different note, there are several places where you can pick up the Andraste's Grace flower, not only Redcliffe. Brecilian forest too.
PS Leliana also sung for me. It was a nice surprise

I think I know where I messed up now, I dumped Zevran after I finished Leliana's quest grrrr.
My next playthrough, I'm rolling a male toon, gotta make sure to do the "deed" with Morrigan right away, is this possible before Lothering? I wanna do this before Leliana joins my party, I figured Leliana is one jealous bish.

Must be a lot of ways to get there.

It's a lovely scene, especially with the reactions of the other party, but the obvious difference in her voice bugs me a little. Okay, a lot. It feels like I'm watching her lip-sync, and makes it unintentionally silly.
Yeah, I've seen it on youtube and that did strike me as very odd...

Yep, right off the bat, after Ostagar and Flemeth's Hut, just checked. You don't even need to bribe her, she warms up quite soon, just don't babble about love, kiss her (I didn't need to do even that), get your approval to warm and be done with it.
Next thing is how to keep 'em both? Is it possible?

Seriously. I can tell her that I only want the pair of us to be friends and she'll still get on my case about Morrigan later on.

from what i have seen in the million other posts on this topic there seems to be a low level conversation arc (approval of 20s or 30s) where if you choose the comment along the lines of "i think you are a good friend" you kill your relationship chances ....
as for me, i got a kiss out of her before her personal quest and slept with her shortly after, and still no song from her yet though that may be due to the fact i have slept with her and have only completed one of the main questline arcs thus far (mage's tower) also i slept with her well before i gave her any special gifts like the flowers .... all in all i would say always pick the flirtiest, cheesiest line possible to romance her, it worked for me .... oh yeah and talk about shoes >.>
The singing isn't romance related, she does that after you visit the elves. She sang for my character and is not in love with her.
I don't know about romance with a male main character, but if you pick the "good friend" answer after she compliments your female main character's hairstyle, you get permanently friend-zoned. If you're friend-zoned, not even chatting about shoes will rescue you.

True this.

This is just not true. If you do her personal quest later on and make the remark about 'she was special to you, wasn't she', you *will* trigger the romance, even if you didn't hint at it at all earlier (I guess provided you have enough approval with her).

If you miss it there, you have another chance after you do her personal quest if you choose the "she was special to you" option, I believe.

I even told her on my Female mage that Duty comes before emotion as a Grey Warden, and she's still 'available'. And it's all very strange, because I'm a MakerBasher and everything points to that she shouldn't like me.
Try telling her she's not a chantry sister, and stuff along that lines. She's a spy, and shouldn't hide behind a veil of innocent piety. That's the only consistent I have, and that seems to do the trick.

You can start a romance with her, have it ended, and then re-start it if you do her personal quest later on and make the remark about "she was special to you, wasn't she" then say "I hope I will be as special to you someday"(or something like that).

This doesn't work because she thinks your turning her down due to being a Gray Warder. Leliana just falls harder for you when she thinks your being self-sacrificing. You should have just told her you were involved with someone else instead.

the trick to get her is always talk to her and listen every story that she knows and you'll end up in a quest about majorlene go to that quest, I think it doesn't matter you killed her or not, but in mine I killed her. lol (to get Majorlene Bow)
try talk about shoes,....Give her a Gift that only for her like Andraste's Grace you can look for it in Brecilian forest or Elven Alienage in Denerim. and if you in Orzammar, go to Dust town there is a man who can get Nug (a pet like pig) for you give him silver after he got one for U the bigger silver you give him the better Nug U got, and U can Give that Nug to Leliana.
to make a bigger chance never get in to romance Scene or talk with others.
I think that should do the trick
for those who happened to be have a male character could also try this I hope it work well too

What personal quest of Leliana are you talking about? I have the romance since ages now, relation at 100%, she sang the song at the campfire, I have no more conversation options left...
How could I trigger that quest?
you have to start over. the quest only triggers at a certain point, and sometimes, if you advance too quickly with her, it bugs out and never triggers.

After playing more then 4 playthroughs I know that now.
Still on my first playthrough, it was perhaps a great coincidence that she and I did the deed and we had the heart to heart talk about "us" just before she sang the song. It was at the time for me, pure magic and thought that it was Bioware's magical touch in romance writing / timing.
Still, even knowing what the trigger for that event is, it won't change that feeling of wonder for me the first time she sang it for me nor the memory of what I felt at the time.

Yes.
Did you write that bit? I'm curious about which writers/developers were primarily responsible for Leliana. Overall, she's one of the best-written characters in DA:O (excepting the awful scenes in the quest for the Urn of Sacred Ashes; I started a thread asking about this but didn't get much response).

I got this scene on my first play through as a human noble rogue.
