I LOVED Zaeed...until I realized I couldn't have a proper conversation with him outside his loyalty mission. Total buzzkill.

This.
Ruined the Character. If you're gonna have a squad character in Mass Effect (1 or 2) they need full cinematic integration, or the visible fissure of REAL CHARACTER and DLC CHARACTER opens up to an abyssal trench. So as far as Im concerned, the best thing about the Zaeed DLC Character is the garbage ejector in that section of the Normandy that he squats in.

Yeah that was weird. I mean i really enjoyed his stories, but wish I could have had some responses to them.
But, heh, I did enjoy the garbage ejector. Kinda wish the surveillance cam had some sort of funny/cool functionality.

I like Zaeed because I get to punch him for being an ass.
To be honest, that scene made shep look more badass than anything else - 'I don't give a **** how many scars you have and how many people you've killed, you're on my team and that means you *will* follow my goddamn orders!'
Though I did think the guy reminded me of Quaritch from Avatar, just a cockney version. That made me like him enough...

The only thing I like about Zaeed is that I can punch his fugly face.

I concur. Who DIDN'T like the last scene of the Zaeed loyalty mission? (That is, if you chose to continue chasing after the guy without stopping to help the pathetic workers)
Best. Revenge. Ever.
Oh come on that was the most cliched thing in the entire game and quite frankly to me it looked like a pathetic rip off.
I think the writers did a poor job of Zaeed's dialouge and to make him look like a badass they had to resort to making him use the horribly cliched line "burn you son of a ****", and since they couldnt really come up with any ideas of their own they made him say it twice (Yeah I know the second time it was "fry you son of a ****" but really they are both the same thing).

one of my favorites, killing vido the way he does mannnnn, i wish i could have wrex and zaeed with me
Yeah it would be like Zaeed is my left nut and Wrex is my right nut.
Because you dont have nuts of your own?

It's not like Shepard's voice is going to make much of a difference.
"Korgan Helmet? Can you tell me more about that?"
"This assault rifle looks rusty, why don't you get a new one?"
"I didn't know you collect model starships."
"Do you have any old war stories you can tell me about?"
There, just pretend Shepard said that.

I heard that when Zaeed does a push-up, he doesn't push himself up, he pushes the Normandy down.
Did you know that Zaeed was once bitten by a venemous Varren? After 5 days of pain and suffering, the Varren died.

Ready?
Who didn't laugh when he kicked that batarian in the face when you first meet him?
LOL
Umm who doesn't laugh when anyone does anything that hurts Batarians? Everytime one of 'em screams, I laugh out loud.

Actually I dislike Zaheed because he spends the first 20 secs of combat ignoring your commands to find cover, the rest of combat is then spent unconscious because i get sick of wasting medi gels on him. The only time i really use him now is his loyalty mission (obviously), which is a shame cos his inferno grenade is fun to use. But then you can just give that to yourself.
sounds like your Shepherd isn't strong enough to handle Zaheed.

I guess the thing is that many of us don't like throwaway characters.Spyndel wrote...
I liked him just fine for a throwaway character. I liked him in Kotor too, when he was going by his Canderous alias.
