Incredible, very good added insight into Morrigan. Would have preferred it from the point of view of Morrigan who romanced the male PC but I'm not complaining...too much.

Obviously in this case we had to take it from a single point of view-- in this case I thought it fitting to assume that they were referencing Aimo's cute dwarven noble heroine. The scene actually wasn't that different when it was Morrigan romancing a male PC. In that case it's Morrigan asking Alistair for advice-- Alistair being either the player's good friend or someone who she knows has a better grounding in morality than she does.

Alas, it never got very far. For a while afterwards there were supposed to be two alternate "openings" to the Morrigan offer-- if you were close to Morrigan you found her sitting on your bed and much more guarded, trying to figure out just how she's going to tell you what she has to tell you.

But that was too much cinematics work for a conversation which was already pretty heavy on the cinematics. So be it, you know? That's how game development goes. Just ask Chris Avellone sometime when you get the chance. :)

Anyhow, glad you guys liked the comic. I just adore Aimo's work.

It was a fantastically moving scene anyway, any alternate scene depending on the players relationship with her would have been welcome but definitely not a necessity in drawing out an emotional response from the player. I thought Morrigan was one of the most deep characters ever portrayed in video game history and the while Morrigan romance ending of Dragon Age is the only moment a game has ever made me shed a tear. You should definitely be very proud of your work, thank you once again. I'm glad you got the scene made into a comic though, the art is superb.

I really apologize for going off topic, but i just have to ask: I really like the gear your characters are wearing: do you use a special mod that's available to the general public?

Morrigan is always my BFF and I always do the ritual and thank her later My CE always wishes to find her and hang out later but respecting Morrigans wishes ends up rebuilding the wardens with Zev or Leil. To see Morrigan portrayed with some nicer emotions was heartwarming. The illustrations are beautiful.

Good stuff. Wish the scene would have made the game as well. I loved the few (very few) moments where Morrigan showed some real emotion. Heh, wasn't sure her character was capable of the emotions shown in that comic.

Awesome.  Loving all the DA comics, both this one and the Penny Arcade ones.  Good stuff, hope to see more in the future.

I have to say that I'm glad this scene didn't make it into the game. I personally like the ambiguity in Morrigan's character, i.e. "Was she conflicted in offering this deal, or was our entire friendship my wishful thinking?"

A scene like this would have been too... fanboyish. As if fans desperately want Morrigan to truly care about their PC, and the devs caved in to that demand. No, I love the possibility that Morrigan just used you from beginning to end. It happens IRL, and it can happen in your computer game. Sure, she can show a little regret. But to be that conflicted about it? No thanks.

I knew Aimo since our college fanart days... to run into her again after all these years b/c of a video game... net's a small place. :)

If it's a choice between Aimo and the Penny Arcade artist drawing more DAO comics... then yeah, Aimo definitely. Pay her so she can make colored pages for you, Bioware. And, she can draw much better than that... pay her and you'll see.

I'd like to reply to every one of the comments, but I have to turn it really soon due to an outing later this morning, so I have to make it a short , general one. My apologies.

Thank you for the kind words on the comic; I'm happy at the overall positive reception to the pages. I was fortunate to get the chance to collaborate with David Gaider, because something like this does not happen every day! I was definitely on board when the story he had in mind would illustrate the existence and scale of Morrigan's dilemma, whose declaration prior to the storming Denerim was one of the most touching, powerful words uttered in the game (provided the Warden and her were good friends, of course). Personally, the best thing about this was the opportunity to glimpse into more Morrigan-Alistair interactions beyond the game while working on the pages, as I do miss them quite a bit after finishing a playthrough.

I've uploaded the rough layout of the comic, so you can compare the initial plans to the finished story.

I will add an awesome as well! This playthrough I started the Morrigan romance, and while I liked her my first time around it is much more fun at the moment.

I like the comic and I'm happy to see it, but as above I'm glad the scene didn't make the game. As my lover, I think the game portrayed just the right amount of ambivalance from Morrigan. In fact, I thought it was the best part of the story.

I guess this is a gift for girls who had their heart broken with Alsitair romance. So I wonder if next time it will be a comic for males who romanced Morrigan.

I have left little to no doubts concerning just how much I enjoyed not only Aimo's Artwork, but the 'missing' moment from Dragon Age's course of events. Sadly, I almost wish we had never learned of the Alternate Openings you mentioned, as I know it would have been something that would have added a great deal to the game for me, as well as making my Warden's Relationship with Morrigan seem...well, more believable.

I understand that some folks rather enjoyed the 'question' of Morrigan's motivations concerning the Ritual and what it entailed. However...I have always felt as though something was absent from that sequence. And now, of course, I know why. For those who do everything possible to earn Morrigan's Love (i.e. Flemeth's Lost Book, Defeating Flemeth, buying her the Golden Mirror, etc) we learn through various dialogue options that Morrigan is becomming more and more conflicted with herself and her emotions.

When the Ritual is at last revealed we come to understand 'why' she was conflicted before; however, none of that Conflict seems to exsist when the Offer is made. It's as if she suddenly never had any concerns over it. There is no sense of apprehension or remorse for what could possibly be the Introduction of an even Greater Evil into the world via sharing one last passionate moment with the love of her Life. Had the scene showing Morrigan sitting on the Bed, racked with doubt, made it into the game, both the Ritual scene and the Romance's culmination in general would have made much more sense.

Now, I recognize that these are very much just my views. I 'know' others will disagree. And that's cool, as topics like these really show just how deeply Dragon Age's amazing stories and characters affected the people who have experienced it. Basically, I just really hope that, for DA:2 you guys are allowed to keep even more of the game's content from being cut than you were the first time. Again, however, amazing Comic and Scene. Hope to see more from an Gaider/Aimo Team-Up.

Great job both of you. Aimo, you captured the character personalities perfectly. *salute*

P.S. I wish this scene was in DA:O, it would of helped the story I feel.

Of course, it only works for those of us who have female PCs, and preferably a romanced Alistair in some fashion, but still, its a fantastic work.

That's Aimo's work in a nutshell, really...

Oh! Riiiiiiiight.....! I hadn't ever considered the implications of the Warden-Archdemon thing, you and Alistair being the last 2 Wardens, and Morrigan offering the deal (to you) for Alistair since you're female!

Omigod, LOL I pity the girls who romanced Alistair with their hearts invested into it! That is some heavy decision!

I would've never thought about it because my dwarven rogue girl would never romance Alistair. They'll be snark buddies at best. She's gonna run away with Sten at the end, if he'll let her.

One of the best scenes i have seen! I was heartbroken when i had to send Alistair sleeping with her, mostly because she was my friend and he my lover.

Shouldn't have left it out of the game! If you have more scenes like this do more comics!
