The game to me had that fling feel going on, since you have sex with Miranda in the engine room. However, I do think she care's for Male shepard a lot more than Jacob did for female shepard.

The thing with Jacob LI scene felt like a really bad porn movie, and I hated how smutty femshepard sounded. The rejection scene for Jacob confirmed that he was asked three freaking times to leave, and called me a tease. I went like what the **** man, if I am not ready to take it to the next level then you should respect that decision. Know for Thane, I find it hard to say it was a fling for him, but to me it felt like I had become a replacement for his dead wife.

Garrus and Tail, I tend to think they as LI's are much more deeper, since they trust each other more than they do the other squad members.

Kaidan, and Laira are fine as romances one risked everything for you, and the other crashed, and burned over your death.

IMO the ME1 LIs were flings, while the ME2 were obviously love (at least in Jack's case)

idk, depends on how you view it:
Imo, true love:  kaidan/ash/garrus/thane/tali
flings:  kelly
the rest it's hopw you rp shepard

How the heck is the ME1 true love and the ME2 ones not? Did you play ME2 because those ME1 LIs did not seem to much in love to me.

This.  I always felt that the ME1 LIs were a fling (ninja romance anyone) but the ME2 LIs (Tali, Jack, Thane, Garrus) seemed much more genuine.

I would tend to point out that ME 1 human love interests burned their bridges in ME 2. Liara is too busy chasing the shadow broker and I expect she will understand my love of Tali. So.... Liara, Tali, Shepard threesome FTW.

You mentioned everyone except Miranda and Jack, so where do you put them as romances/flings?

Tali's romance is the farthest from a Fling in my opinion. She admits that she cares for you deeply even after you died and how she watched you thru everything. Shep also says he will wait on her and be patient with the issue regarding her immune system.

Which is exactly why she is my favorite LI in single-player Bioware games... it just felt genuine, touching, and true, compared to the rest.

Kaiden being a close second in the sweetness factor, but.... I just can't STAND men who say "sorry" for EVERYTHING.... again, and again, and again, "I'm sorry Shepard, but........... blahblahblah..." I ended up tuning him out, and not pursueing him simply because of this... personal taste, I guess. Whiners are a big turn-off to me. *shrugs*

While creating a male-shep, I found Ash's to be VERY sweet, and touching, but not as in-depth as Tali. Gonna have a ME1-ME2 playthrough staying loyal to her, just to see how that one plays out. JUST in case I'm disappointed with the Tali romance in ME3.

Its a matter of point of view really, I can look at the Tali romance and see that some people could see it as a fling as i could with any of the romances in both games. I dont feel that way but i get if some people do.

Just like I think its funny or odd to say Tali has the deeps relationship out of them, again its a point of view thing, and could same that thier is the same level of depth or more with other romance, It takes two games to learn about Tali, and one only for Miranda Jack Liara or Ash

Tali risking her life to be with Shepard isn't a fling.

As team members go, from ME1 Garrus, Tali and Kaiden were always my favorite and even without the love interest part they were the deepest characters. Besides Joker, I just simply love Joker.

I love how they improved Garrus and Tali's characters in ME2, as well as giving a few others that great depth. Even without romancing Thane, he was still an amazing character you can become attached to. The only ones I found myself not caring about was Mordin, Jacob and Zaeed. Any of the others could have been interesting Interests, except maybe Grunt or Legion, that would be a little... odd.

lol got to love how some people only listen to one thing and right away go "Tali risking her life isnt a fling"

All romacnes can be looked at as a fling if one wanted to see it that way again I dont feel that way, i do think romance Tali is odd cause to be shes Shepards "little sister" that he protects and looks after and romancing her is risking her life but calm down Im not putting Tali down was just using it as the exsample since it was the one beiing used

None of them are flings, all are called LI's. There is no reason why Kaidan/Liara are suppose to be more "legit" from Garrus/Thane/Jacob(cringe) because they were first. Or vice versa. Even if you have paramour achivement you can go and break up after main mission with ME2 LI, why would it be possible if they were "flings".

Kelly maybe, she doesn't count to paramour.

I brought up DA:O to explain why some may feel that the ME LIs were flings. The games have 2 different squad mate interaction mechanics and those that played DA:O may expect the same depth from ME. I never compared specific characters from these games, however.

Exactly.

And remember: Mass Effect is a Trilogy. DA:O as far as I know is an Stand-alone game. Obviously one mass Effect game romance will seem to be "less developed" than DA:Os. But just wait until ME3 comes out.

For now I find Tali's Romance to be amazingly deep between the two games, and I can't wait to see how my Sheps relation with Tali will evolve.

I think there aren't any real 'flings' except Kelly, or Jack if you take her up on her initial offer for sex. I get the impression that Shepard is supposed to have some deep attachment to their LI in both games, though I think they were successful in conveying that to varying degrees.

Tali's romance was not deep between the two games.  It sprung up out of nowhere because of all the Talimancer's wanting it.

At least three of them come across as flings to me. I dunno....Only my guy Shepard relented. FemShep was strong.

Considering that I have had a couple of ME1 Sheps that didn't have an LI then I would say that my ME2 LI that comes around on those Sheps never cheated and their LI should be just as solid as if they had one in ME1.

Also you know that the ME1's LI's were not on your team because they didn't want you to kill them off. If have not managed to kill an ME2 LI either, since you'd have to do their loyalty mission to get them to get to that point.

What I'm looking foward to is my 'cheating' Shep and how Ash and Miri deal with it.  I really hope they don't do it like they did in ME1 where they both came to me and forced me to choose.  I want more having to deal with them and talking and such fun stuff.

Wasn't Tali originally intended to be a romantic interest in ME1 but they chickened out because she was too different?

No need to explain this. It was originally planned for ME1, then recovered thanks to fans. Not coming out of nowhere.

So, as I said, no. Period.

As much as I hate Ashley Williams she has been around the longest so I wouldn't call her a fling.

Just cause it was planned doesn't make it so.  She showed no inclination of romantic feelings towards Shepard in ME1.  More to the point, my renegade Shepard treated her like garbage.  Didn't let her take the info for the Quarians for her pilgrimage, in ME 2 he further refused to let her take Veetor back to the Flotilla, and she was still supposedly interested in Shepard.  Ridiculous in my opinion.

I think Garrus is sweet and all but I don't know, he seems more like a good friend than a lover to me.
He's still one of the best ME2 romances though.

Cause he'll be your friend.
And he'll be your lover.
Well, you know in your heart you agree.
You don't have to be one or the other.
