Ok, I looked through several threads that seemed to be similar to my problem, but I wasn't sure that anything seemed to be quite what I am experiencing.
I am noticing during dialogue sequences the audio seems to skip or glitch at first, and then gets progressively worse. I begin to hear weird audio in the background (like beeps or static) and the dialogue starts to get cut off (e.g. "Shepard, what are you doing?" ends up being "Shepard, what are...") and then abruptly skips to the next line of dialogue which does the same thing. When I try to move, framerate issues/stuttering/slow down occurs.
If I alt + tab out and wait for a few minutes, it seems to get better for a minute or two before the same problem appears again. Someone said this sounds like a RAM issue, but I have 4 gigs of RAM and when I check the performance tab only roughly 1.5-1.7 gigs are in use. CPU usage is about 50%. Going under Processes and setting the priority to "high" from "normal" doesn't seem to have any effect.
I have installed patch 1.01 and have the latest Realtech audio drivers.
System specs are q8200 processor, 4 gigs of RAM, GTS 250, Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.
Has anyone else had this happen on a similar setup or can suggest anything to fix it?

Yes, I have very similar problems although the video freezes a bit at the same time as the audio stuttering occurs. Even occurs when I'm scanning a planet, so is not a video over-load. In my case, recent computer changes might contribute; my older GeForce 8600 failed and now have a new GeForce GTX 260 (better but not top of the line). Operating Vista SP2. Also had to reinstall ME2 after the new video card was installed; the game would play but I couldn't load a save, only resume.
Perhaps position in game is connected to the trouble?
The above problem has just started when I'm about half way through the game - still have to add one more person to make the team, and haven't completed all of the loyalty quests.
Hope you can proceed and enjoy your game.
