Saying Japan shouldn't have been nuked is like saying Hitler should have been shot before he could come to power. You might think you're saving lives, but the repurcussions could be terrible. If Japan hadn't been bombed, WW2 might have continued and merged with the distrust that lead to the Cold War, leading to a Hot War with the USSR.
If the horrific power of the A-bomb were never demonstrated, there's a chance that the first use of nuclear weapons might have come later, when multiple countries would have had the technology and nuke stockpiles, possibly leading to global thermonuclear war and the end of civilisation.
Also, Japan might never have become the technological powerhouse that it is today. The Playstation might never have been invented. Anime might not have developed, so Cowboy Bebop wouldn't exist.
I agree with this it has been said by lots of historians that if hitler was not around and a good commander in charge Rommel or any of the others Germany could have won the war or at the least not made the mistakes that led to them being beat
as for japan saying you would rather troops die than normal people you have to remember that most if not all Japanese people of that time would have been fighting the invasion and would have killed themselves if needed like many of there army did so the casualties amongst the civilians would have been 1000s of times more than what the bombs did
Again this sounds like propaganda. Killing everyone to save yourselves I can't really argue with. Assuming that everyone in Japan or even many in Japan would take up arms after being sieged by the Chinese and the Allies is being presumtious. Almost sounds like trying to justify using the Atomic Bomb when in reality we used it and thats that.

Nixon was just an idiot. He didnt even ORDER the break-in at watergate. He just decided to cover it up when he found out about it because he didnt want bad press for the republican party. Oh the irony! Could have dodged the whole thing and left with the legacy of "only nixon could go to china" if he had just bit the bullet and made a press-release about the whole thing.
I dont think Truman is too much like TIM either. Truman was a "Renegade" in a way, he did whatever was NECESSARY for victory. I dont think any single president has all of the qualities of TIM.

Ah but that was hardly the only unethical thing Nixon was involved with, he had private slush funds for his personal use taken from campaign finances, he promised people peace and then turned Vietnam into a parking lot. And while he may not have implicitly ordered the break in he created the team of men who's job it was to go and do these things for him, bit like ol' Timmy and his "rogue cells".
More then anything else Nixon's own paranoia undid him, we shall have to wait and see if TIM ends up in a similar way (in the paragon path that is, he stands to become god-emperor of man in the renegade way).

Yes killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and causing a high rate of birth defects to this day was obviously the right choice to make.

In all seriousness though, the Illusive Man is corrupt like so many many others in our Goverment, it's a shame really.
Just a word on the Atomic Bomb debate, Harry Truman gets my support for the "balls-i-est" President ever. Like results for previous islands where the Japanese and Civilians commited sucide, Japan would be no different. The army and civilians where brainwashed through propaganda to think the Americans would are the worst people ever etc, etc. And in their morals suicide was preforable to capture by the Americans.
So if we chose to invade Japan there would be mass suicides on the Japanese side not to mention the unessicary casualites on both sides, look to Okinawa the Japanese fought a damn bloody battle against us, Japan would be like that except 1,000 fold.
Dropping the Bomb, was better option. Even though it is a horrific weapon and it is teribly sad for the loss of life at the two bomb sites it was clearly the less bloody option.

More people died in the firebombings of Japan than in the nuclear blasts, and without the demonstration of such a devastating weapon, firebombings would have continued. Long-term effects of radiation and fallout were not understood at the time.
OT: I'd say Nixon, Johnson, or Jackson(alien and sedition acts, anyone?)
I think you mean Adams instead of Jackson for the alien and sedition acts.
