Actually, it's more due to economic segregation.  Black people usually don't have the privlidge of growing up in affluent neighborhoods.
Poorer neighborhoods mean the people pay less in taxes which means fewer resources for local governments to spend on education and crime prevention.

Black people usually have more obstacles to overcome when it comes to succeeding in today's economy due to a lack of opportunity compared to say white children born in gated communities.

Actually, no it isn't. The clown who started this thread OP is just trying to stir something up -- and failing miserably. I don't know of any claims of racism in ME or ME2 that have gained any traction. And that's because there really isn't much to complain about.

and for the record, I'm an African American married to a white, red-haired Australian, so I do have some sensitivity to issues regarding race. In this case, however, I don't think there is much there, unless you want to complain that they didn't explicitly include every single known ethnic group on the planet.

As we've seen in many a BioWare game, the ultimate evil in human affairs is the corporation. I think Cerberus, while a terrorist organisation, is really supposed to be an example of corporate evil, gone completely out of control. And I suspect the real reason TIM is white is because the face of the generic "corporation" in most Western eyes, is still a middle-aged white man.

I think these 'racial' talks are getting out of hand. If TIM had been made to look like a black man, there would be post saying that it shows off black people in a bad light, making them evil and such.

Does it really matter if he is black or white, yellow or green? What if he had been an asarian, quarian or any of the other races? Would there then be posts about why he wasn't a human?

And I don't think that current trends would indicate that society/parantage/anything other than economics would be mixed.  Too little population melding for mixed societies/cultures.   Perhaps the United States, but not other countries as many have seen population decline and explosions but are all cultural/racial while the US has always had influx of immigrants.

Unusual, but not nonexistant.  Black supremacist organizations like Nation of Islam and Black Panthers are all on the far fringe and they hold no political clout.

White racist groups like the Council Of Conservative Citizens on the other hand have members who are elected members of congress.

I'm sure that all of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus are selfless and noble egalitarians. Yeah, right. Some people need to grow up and smell the sh!t they're shoveling.
