Actually, it's more due to economic segregation.  Black people usually don't have the privlidge of growing up in affluent neighborhoods.
Poorer neighborhoods mean the people pay less in taxes which means fewer resources for local governments to spend on education and crime prevention.

Black people usually have more obstacles to overcome when it comes to succeeding in today's economy due to a lack of opportunity compared to say white children born in gated communities.

I've met quite a few over-privileged african american, asian and indian people before. Race has nothing to do with it. THere is a pretty bad white under-class in the USA.

There are rich and poor people from all demographics but poverty is much more prevalent in black communities.
Legally, segregation in the USA no longer exists but de-facto it still does because many black communities to not have equal access to education and therefore less opportunity than white people.

When people like the congressional black caucus campaign for "racial reperations" a lot of white people misinterpret that as thinking they just want a hand out.  What they really want is federal assistance for local governments in predominantly poor black communities to help fund social programs like education, roads, and first responders since poor communities lack the resources to finance them themselves since poor people do not pay much in taxes.

I have one question: why is there a black communities? I'm canadian and where I live there's no such thing. Actually one of my best friend is Haitian. I got a Cambodian friend, a Laosian friend, a russian and an Arabic friend. Seriously who cares about what colour do you have? Colour doesn't make you a good person. If you're an assh0le i'll tell you you're an assh0le whatever colour you are.

Holdover from racial segregation.  Lack of migration of people = communities that are largely one race.  In fact the state I live in is over 90% White.

I wonder why all these topics have to become racist. To me TIM is perfect how he is. His voice fits his character style. If you look at each character of the game and the people who play there voices you will see that each person matches up. Except for like the aliens and maybe Jack. Other than that every character seems to fit the voice that plays them.

Yeah but still... I simply found it odd. Way off topic.

On topic: I'd bet dollars to pesos that it was pure and simple a combination of wanting to work with Martin Sheen, and not being innondated with letters (people really do still write letters I hear), emails, and phone calls from whatever demographic TIM represented that wasn't white. Oh, and FOX- you can bet they'd be all over it.

Besides, I think BW was probably shaky on the reception that Jacob's dad would get, but was able to work it because of Jacob's obvious display of disgust- which I fully supported. Too bad it is the only mission I ever take Jacob on in the game... Miranda + about anyone else makes for a more effective squad...

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood.

Topics like these make me shake my head, but they ALWAYS get started. I started a joke thread a couple weeks ago about BW being fat-ist in only having skinny people in the game. Lo and behold, today there is a serious thread about it... or maybe not, I haven't read it, mostly just shook my head and rolled my eyes at it. Take that, thread.

I don't know if you live in the United States like myself, but it just sounds like you are just trying to make the case for affirmative action/race based programs. I know plenty lower-middle class white invidivuals who get passed over for the sake of a college or company wanting to meet a quota and thus look good in the government's eyes.

And $5 says somebody will now accuze me of being a racist for opposing the way government aid works these days.

Do you take Jack with you?  I love Jack and Jacob.  Shockwave and Squad Warp Ammo is awesome.  So is Pull Field and Squad Incendiary.

Jack and Miranda mostly. A lot of people misunderstand the usefullness of Shockwave. On Hardcore/Insanity, all you have to do is bring down the Armor of the lead enemy and fire Shockwave, one goes flying and the others (in the path) are momentarily stunned.

Usually if I want Incendiary I use Grunt. Jacob can be used, I just prefer to surround myself with ladies. I am a simple man with simple needs and very little shame.

My current playthrough is Infultrator with Armor Piercing as by bonus talent, I have Squad Disruptor Ammo, Squad Cryo and Tungsten Ammo. Use Heavy Warp Ammo for Jack, Squad Disruptor for Miranda and usually Armor Piercing on my weapons. Makes for a nice combo.

Poverty affects many races.  But excuse me if I feel no sympathy for the White impovershed as they are still linked to the segment that controls this country.

i really don't care for threads like this because its not really important in the first place. Its a game people to me it doesn't matter how the people look. You make the main character how you want be happy they gave us that choice. I don't have a problem with anything they did with the game as far as i can see for the characters.

So you only care about the poor based on their race? That attitude really helps "race relations" or whatever you wish to call them.

And there are always some poor, regardless of race, who have found means of living off the welfare system.
