Because a black, lower class woman would sound odd with Martin Sheen's voice?

They really should have made him a her though. Have a woman in power for once. Or, maybe that's my feminist side talking.

It is your feminist side speaking.
However, I do agree with you that a powerful and misterious woman in ME could be cool, especially if you're playing maleShep. A female antagonist could be pretty interesting in that case, because she could secude Shepard to play things her way.

But I'm glad TIM is a man, and not The Illusive Ma'am. Call me clicheé, but a rich, ellusive mafia boss character just works better with an old fashioned man with his sigar and his Scottish whiskey. I just can't imagine a woman in TIM's place.

Because a black guy wouldn't have the same effect. Different racial image, regardless of however you dress it.

Suck it up.

The only thing worse than seeing another "why hasn't my minority been satisfied" thread, is reading people like Busomjack proselytizing excuses for failing cultures.

Should he be an unsophisticated black guy? Like Kanye? Ewww I'd kill myself if I had to help that guy.

But a sophisticated black guy, like ... Will Smith... I could stare at those eyes all day.

Will Smith is hardly Sophisticated, what with him becoming Tom Cruise and all.

Because Martin Sheen can't do a black man's voice.
Hence why it looks like Martin Sheen.

Trying to claim that they are racist for making the character white instead of him being a black man is racism in itself. Their decision to have him white was not racist. Your decision to post this moronic topic is racist. This thread fails badly.

Ok. if all the humans now a days are all biracial, than way is the illusive man still white?? Damn. He doesn't have to be 100% black, but why is he pure whiteness?

Maybe because they imagined him as a white guy, and wanted to stay true to their original concept, than to to pander to the politically correct crowd.

Does he?

Also in 200 years everyone being biracial is an impossibility, but I cannot remember what exactly the ME 1 codex says about that.

I'm not being PC, i'm just pondering, what is BW justification to make the illusive man white, and have martin sheen portray him. If he were black, i would be asking the same thing.

I don't say this often, but this is stupid. Really. badjesuz007, did you know that Obama is half white? He looks black to me but he's half. That discounts your notion of, "if he looks white then he is white". I'm Asian and you don't see me complaining about the lack of Asians in the game.

Face it, White guys can pull of the 'rich, powerful and sophisticated villain' character better than anyone else. Not even white chicks can pull it off as well.

because in the modern Western world the vast majority of the rich and powerful are "white" so it's an easy archetype to identify. any other race would invite questions of other, more unusual motives besides power and greed, something easily attributable to TIM.

You could also argue that, at least in North America, the stereotype of a "white supremacist" is more common in popular culture than a supremacist of any other race. Since Cerberus is a human supremacist, the character is modeled after this stereotype (including light hair and blue eyes to complete the aryan look).

Technically, "supremacist" is a more appropriate word than "racist", as in order to be of the same "race" you'd first have to be from the same species (or even genera!)... Sorry, high school biology interfering with my love of sci-fi...
