is it possible the illusive man is the shadow broker? an agent of the collectors? it seems after talking to liara at nos astra there is a possible connection? thoughts?

Possibly, but probably not. The idea conflicts with the comic that ties in with the game. Although you do see the illusive mans image on the ceiling before his transmission comes through at the end.

I don't think the Illusive Man is the Shadow Broker because at one point in-game, during one of the after mission briefings, it was commented that there were 3 primary intelligence networks in the galaxy; The Shadow Broker, Cerberus and Harbinger/Sovereign. So if TIM was the Shadow Broker why have duplicate and redundant networks and compete against yourself? Plus, Nyaore is right, why hire Liara to get Shepard's body back from yourself?
