I never said terminally stupid, though given the modern political climate it's difficult to argue against it. Terminally self-interested, on the other hand, is not dismissable.

i think that why they don't believe you is that the citadel gives off a very, very weak indoctrination signal. its so weak that no one notices it and therefore no one questions it. for example they hear something repeatedly (the salarian on virmire) possibly making you wonder why the protheans vanished and that maybe someone or something wiped them out. after a while you start thinking that its a foolish idea and that such a thing would be impossible. so after prolongued exposure it gets worse and worse, pretty soon you immediately dismiss the claim.

i know its a very complex idea but it could work.
